The Spotlight on Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh - Formerly Jurys Inn

Modern Comfort in Edinburgh's Historic Heart

Stylish and centrally located, Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh - Formerly Jurys Inn puts you right in the middle of the action. Nestled in the Old Town just off the Royal Mile, this hotel blends classic Edinburgh charm with modern design. It's less than a 5-minute walk from Waverley Train Station—perfect for getting in, getting settled, and getting to the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

With major venues a short stroll away, you can skip the taxi queue and walk to gigs with ease. The hotel’s central location means you’re never far from the music—and the post-show comfort. Late check-out at 12:00 PM gives you time to sleep in after a big night, and the nearby train station makes late-night travel a breeze. Despite being in a lively area, guests report surprisingly quiet rooms thanks to thoughtful soundproofing.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends wanting to explore the city between sets
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert
  • Couples turning a gig into a romantic weekend
  • Fans seeking a peaceful place to crash after the encore
  • Budget-minded concert-goers wanting value and location

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s restaurant serves an international dinner menu, while the bar offers snacks, lunch, and proper coffee—ideal for a pre-concert bite or a late return snack. While there’s no 24/7 room service, there are plenty of eateries around the Royal Mile that stay open late. Breakfast is available on-site, even if you roll in a little later than usual.

Nightlife Options

You're steps from some of Edinburgh’s most popular bars and pubs. Whether you’re into traditional whisky lounges or modern cocktail spots, you’ll find something nearby. While the hotel doesn’t host live music on-site, its central location means you can find a venue with a quick walk.

What People Say

Guests love the spacious rooms, especially the comfy Dream beds and sleek bathrooms with spa-like toiletries. The location is a consistent highlight—close to everything, but peaceful inside. Many reviewers also mention the helpful staff and the ease of arriving via Waverley Station.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the decor could feel a little generic compared to the historic surroundings. Also, while the bar menu is decent, more late-night food options on-site would be a plus for post-gig cravings.

The Bottom Line

A smart pick for concert-goers wanting modern comfort and unbeatable location right in the heart of Edinburgh’s cultural scene.

Horrible

Liked: Very hostile
Disliked: The staff were hostile I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this hotel. The GM charged me a whole nights stay for a few hours of late checkout. I thought a half days charge or some sort of penalty would’ve been acceptable but could she charge me for a whole nights charge especially when she had already sold the room and claimed she was fully booked. Why loot visitors it was a terrible experience.

Liked: Top notch breakfasts! Really friendly staff
Disliked: Filthy windows, they could be cleaned. Construction works outside my apartment disturbing a day for all day long. If you spend over £200 per night, you would expect some more and maybe some peace and quiet.

A enjoyable stay

Liked: The room was very comfortable and quiet, making for a restful stay. We also thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which offered a great selection. The location is excellent—just a minute from the Royal Mile via the ‘close’ behind the hotel, and only a 7–8 minute walk from the train station. The staff were consistently courteous and helpful, from the receptionist and buffet hostess to the housekeeping team. We truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

Avoid at all costs.

Liked: Location great for old town
Disliked: Staff rude on front desk, absolutely no customer service, different price on booing. com and different price charged. Escalated issue to manager, he was worse than tram member. Check in was well after time specified by hotel, no explanation and not even a bottle of water for inconvenience. After 24 hour flight, this experience was horrible. Room tiny, bathroom had mould. Extremely expensive and absolutely not worth it. .
