The Spotlight on Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh - Formerly Jurys Inn

Modern Comfort in Edinburgh's Historic Heart

Stylish and centrally located, Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh - Formerly Jurys Inn puts you right in the middle of the action. Nestled in the Old Town just off the Royal Mile, this hotel blends classic Edinburgh charm with modern design. It's less than a 5-minute walk from Waverley Train Station—perfect for getting in, getting settled, and getting to the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

With major venues a short stroll away, you can skip the taxi queue and walk to gigs with ease. The hotel’s central location means you’re never far from the music—and the post-show comfort. Late check-out at 12:00 PM gives you time to sleep in after a big night, and the nearby train station makes late-night travel a breeze. Despite being in a lively area, guests report surprisingly quiet rooms thanks to thoughtful soundproofing.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends wanting to explore the city between sets
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert
  • Couples turning a gig into a romantic weekend
  • Fans seeking a peaceful place to crash after the encore
  • Budget-minded concert-goers wanting value and location

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s restaurant serves an international dinner menu, while the bar offers snacks, lunch, and proper coffee—ideal for a pre-concert bite or a late return snack. While there’s no 24/7 room service, there are plenty of eateries around the Royal Mile that stay open late. Breakfast is available on-site, even if you roll in a little later than usual.

Nightlife Options

You're steps from some of Edinburgh’s most popular bars and pubs. Whether you’re into traditional whisky lounges or modern cocktail spots, you’ll find something nearby. While the hotel doesn’t host live music on-site, its central location means you can find a venue with a quick walk.

What People Say

Guests love the spacious rooms, especially the comfy Dream beds and sleek bathrooms with spa-like toiletries. The location is a consistent highlight—close to everything, but peaceful inside. Many reviewers also mention the helpful staff and the ease of arriving via Waverley Station.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the decor could feel a little generic compared to the historic surroundings. Also, while the bar menu is decent, more late-night food options on-site would be a plus for post-gig cravings.

The Bottom Line

A smart pick for concert-goers wanting modern comfort and unbeatable location right in the heart of Edinburgh’s cultural scene.

Perfect luxurious stay in Edinburgh

Liked: Clean good sized rooms with lovely views and convenient amenities. The decor throughout the hotel including breakfast area was immaculate, good ambience in the reception and all you need from a central hotel. The location is perfect...across the road from the train station and walk through the alleyway straight onto the Royal Mile. The entire team are amazing all so helpful and polite, especially the staff at breakfast chatting with us and giving us Scottish History and helpful hints of where to explore. And the staff that laid out a lil birthday treat and lovely card for my friend on our arrival - such a lovely touch. It was one of my best stays in a long time.
Disliked: There was some works going on outside the property which hindered access...but cannot be helped by the hotel. However there was no noise disturbance in the room eventhough we were directly above the cranes.

Overall a decent place with...

Liked: Very close to Waverly train station and the Royal mile as both are just steps away.
Disliked: Facility is fine, a little small and had a slight smell due to some cleaning agent, but was clean otherwise and met my needs.

Find a better place

Liked: The only positive was a very nice and kind lady welcoming all at the breakfast.
Disliked: At first we got the room at the side with the view for reconstruction and rubbish bins. Due to expected noise I managed to change to the other side ( with the view for central station and parking space). No one mentioned the room will have no ventilation. The windows do not open. The air was damp and stuffy. Both rooms very small, bathroom really tinny. The lifts are used by both- guests and all kind of service so you travel with dirty laundry, rubbish and all crowd. The hotel is at the busy pavement and anyone can enter the lifts. The breakfast vas absolutely average. Not for this price, believe me.
