The front desk staff were very accommodating and helpful. We came from out of the country after working overnights for the night to see a concert and the staff let us get our room earlier than expected and were very friendly. The room was small but perfect and I loved the look of the hotel and the old school feel.
Liked: The customer service and look of the hotel.
Disliked: Nothing.

We absolutely loved it overall. Staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely stay again!
Liked: Reminded me of American Horror Story Hotel Cortez - I loved how original it was. Impresssed with the ceiling height. How thick and heavy the bathroom door was and actually used a real key!
Disliked: Scalding hot shower - no cold water what so ever.

Very good
Liked: The Lenox hotel offers a basic, clean, tastefully styled room in a neat old building. While lacking some of the features you might get from a newer hotel building, the old style architecture and yesteryear charm is cool.

Blown expectations
Liked: We love the building, view, free parking and our past experiences at the hotel had been great.
Disliked: 1a. A fuse blew knocking out the television and air conditioner (the city had a heat warning, and we had 3 children, 4 and under, in tow). We contacted staff and waited about 20 minutes for them to come up and poke around, and leave. We asked about changing rooms, and were told maybe, as they had someone in the area that might be able to fix it. A little more than an hour in with temperatures in the room uncomfortably warm and no communication, I called the front desk and asked for a new room, and they said give them another 20 minutes. I called back a little more than 20 minutes later after not hearing, and they finally agreed. 1b. The new room we were given was filthy, but nice and cool from a running ac. Literal ice cream bars melted on the floor and bedding and towels strewn about. We had to keep everyone in that room while I ran down to get keys for another room. The next room was fine, although the smaller ac unit wasn't sufficient in cooling the room completely.1c. No apology was extended, or even an acknowledgement of what an inconvenience this was, especially considering we had small children in tow. 2. It's always a challenge getting little kids in because of the stairs. 3. The elevators are a little clanky, but part of the charm of an older building.

Great quirky affordable option next...
Liked: The location is fantastic. This a very walkable area of Buffalo super close to Allentown and not far from downtown. The hotel is a beautiful historic building with some permanent residents. Reminds me of what the old Chelsea Hotel mixed use in NYC must have like in the day. I have stayed in four different rooms over the course of my ten days there and not all rooms are equal. Most were good. Beds were comfortable. The views from the upper floors are incredible. The staff was lovely especially Renee. Parking is free and easy. Safe and clean.
Disliked: Most of the rooms the curtains are too long and go over the air conditioner. While I was able to booby trap the curtain in most rooms, there was one that I had to chose between A/c and Darkness. It was a queen on the 8th floor. One of the king rooms had such a bad shower head I actually removed it to shower because there was super low water pressure. The other king was fine. This is a great budget option but some flexibility is needed. Even with these minor issues I stay here every summer when I visit. You can't beat the price for the neighborhood. Great for the true traveler.
