The Spotlight on The Chambers Hotel

A Boutique Hotel That Hits All the Right Notes

Modern, artsy, and right in the center of Minneapolis’s vibrant theater district, The Chambers Hotel is a stylish boutique stay with deep roots in the city’s live performance scene. Housed in a beautifully restored 1908 building, it blends historic charm with contemporary comfort. With sweeping views of downtown and a location just steps from major venues, it's a top pick for music lovers looking to stay in the heart of the action.

Each of the 60 art-filled rooms and suites features sleek design, walk-in rain showers, and in some cases, luxurious soaking tubs—perfect for post-show relaxation. The lush courtyard with fire pit adds a cozy, social vibe, while the spacious gallery spaces hint at the hotel's creative spirit.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and The Chambers delivers. It’s just a short stroll from iconic venues like the Orpheum Theater, Target Center, and U.S. Bank Stadium. You can walk to most shows and skip the rideshare lines. Thanks to the nearby Minneapolis Skyway, you’re also connected to downtown's nightlife and dining without braving the weather. Rooms are surprisingly quiet for such a central location, and the 3:00 PM check-in and 12:00 PM check-out offer flexibility for travelers chasing late-night encores.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a big show together
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime performance
  • Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
  • Fans seeking a stylish but quiet retreat after the music ends
  • Budget-conscious music lovers looking for upscale vibes without the luxury price tag

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full-service restaurant on-site, you're surrounded by walkable dining options—from upscale eateries to late-night bites. The hotel’s central location means food is never far, and staff are happy to recommend local favorites. Breakfast is available nearby, perfect for slow mornings after a high-energy night.

Nightlife Options

You're in the thick of it here. Whether you're after live music, craft cocktails, or a low-key lounge, downtown Minneapolis nightlife is right outside. While there’s no on-site bar, the surrounding blocks are packed with bars, clubs, and music venues. Some of the city’s best live acts can be caught just steps away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel's unbeatable location, artsy atmosphere, and comfortable rooms. Many mention how easy it is to walk to shows and how surprisingly quiet the rooms are despite the central location. The friendly staff and chic design are big crowd-pleasers.

Areas for Improvement

There’s no restaurant or bar inside the hotel, which some guests found inconvenient after a late show. Some rooms could use minor touch-ups, but overall, the charm and location more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

If you want to stay steps from Minneapolis’s top music venues in a stylish, art-forward hotel, The Chambers Hotel is a front-row seat to it all.

Josette, Finlayson, visiting Dakota Jazz Club Minneapolis Fri, 7 March 2025

I’ve never stayed here before but it was near the concert venue I was going to. All of the 60 rooms have only one queen bed, so I requested a rollaway bed for my friend who was joining me. There was a key glitch that wouldn’t open that door, although the master key card would. Eventually we settled on being accompanied to our room when we returned from the concert. Not a problem, front desk were so helpful. The hotel is nicely decorated and at one time had an art gallery connected to it. A word of warning, when you go to check in from the street entrance, you’ll have to ring and will be let in quickly; it’s for security because vagrants would otherwise wander in. That’s how urban areas can be. I will stay there again.

Liked: Nice sized rooms, excellent staff, and a decent breakfast choice.

Very good

Liked: The room was spacious. I appreciated the locked doors to the front of the building. Close proximity to public transportation. Had an issue with the bathroom door not closing. No maintenance guys were there so they were quick to let us change rooms. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: Not the hotels fault, but there was a homeless man camped out with shopping cart etc next to front door with pee bottles and other unhygienic stuff around him that was unpleasant. Would of been nice if the bar area in the courtyard was open.

More than i was expecting...

Liked: its aesthetics were astounding, and the complimentary services it provided despite the fairly low price was very unexpected. The breakfast and free loaner bikes (though i didn't use the latter) really surprised me!
Disliked: the lack of free visitor parking was a bit disappointing, would have preferred that over some other accommodations, but i suppose that's just a thing with this city. the street was a teeny bit iffy but still very safe imo.
