Disliked: The Pool said open till 9pm and the kids were chased out at 8.50pm but they felt it was rude even though they were getting ready to leave the area anyway

Wonderful rest stop in Mackay

Liked: This motel was the perfect place for anyone travelling through Mackay on a budget. With easy access on a main road, it was still very quiet. The room was clean, the bed was most comfortable, and the shower was hot (with good pressure), and the aircon worked splendidly. The staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. The motel was also close to a shop, servo and few restaurants/pubs, so I was able to get a late dinner after arrival. The Lantern came highly recommended by some friends who travel up and down the coast of Queensland frequently, and I will definitely stay there again on my next visit.
Disliked: The only minor issue was the air freshener in the room - it was quite pungent and overpowering, but I was easily able to move it into the bathroom and close the door overnight.
