Such a shame!
Disliked: Extremely Disappointing Stay During a Special OccasionWe recently stayed at the Lansbury Heritage Hotel to celebrate a special anniversary, but unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations.Upon arrival, we discovered that the air conditioning in our room was not working. We reported the issue to reception at approximately 4:00 PM and were assured it would be resolved promptly. However, when we returned just after midnight, the problem had not been addressed. The room was unbearably hot, and although there was a window, it could not be opened—leaving us with no way to cool the space or circulate fresh air. As a result, we endured a deeply uncomfortable night with very little sleep. The following day, we were informed that this was a known fault affecting three rooms in the hotel. Despite this, there was no advance warning, no alternative accommodation offered, and no meaningful apology or compensation. We were told several times that someone would follow up with us via phone or email, but no one ever did. This was meant to be a special and memorable occasion for us, and we were extremely disappointed—not only by the failure to provide basic comfort, but also by the lack of accountability. Given that the room had no functioning air conditioning and no means of natural ventilation, we were also left questioning whether it was safe or appropriate for guests to stay in such conditions. We had expected a much higher standard from a hotel of this calibre, and sadly, the experience did not meet even the most fundamental expectations of guest care or safety.

Good but needs some fine...
Liked: Good location - near Canary Wharf for river boat and DLR etcClean room - a/c ok although it keeps resetting to a higher temperature which was not ideal in 30+ degree outside heat. Nice Indian restaurant downstairs which is ran separately from the hotel - excellent food - decided to have a drink outside before our meal but came in a staff use the seating area to smoke and make video calls.Breakfast a bit sparse but what we had was nice
Disliked: Confusing car park arrangements - separate locked compound down the road even though we are told it was on site - you are required to get a padlock key from reception and it’s difficult to pull up anywhere near the property.

Misleading. Pictures better than reality...
Disliked: Location. Listed as “Canary Wharf” but is actually across the expressway in Poplar (not a nice area at all, and the DLR station we had to walk through every day to get to the underground station is dirty and smells strongly of urine). AC didn’t really work to cool the room, and the room key is needed to activate the electricity in the room besides, so the AC isn’t even on when you’re not in the room and it’s really hot & stuffy when you get back after a long day. (And it wasn’t even that hot outside, so I imagine it would be even more miserable on a hot, hot day.)The shower was incredibly small. Water only flowed from a third of the holes in the “rainfall” showerhead and the detachable one was loose/broken so it wouldn’t stay raised on the pole.

Would recommend this lovely hotel
Liked: Very spacious and wonderful, helpful staff
Disliked: Parking situation was not really explained properly on Booking or on their website. They only have 3 parking spots and you have to book them in advance. However I was able to park in front of the hotel and the doorman told me they don’t check the meters on Saturdays or Sundays. I took the risk and was ok, but I was worried about it all weekend. Also, the restaurant staff seemed to pressure me into giving them a positive review there and then, when I was walking out. The food was ok and the staff was lovely but I was not prepared for the large Hindu shrine on display next to the breakfast buffet. I think the juices were all from concentrate, and the Continental was lacking variety. The fried breakfast buffet was nicer, and they had good sausages. The staff throughout the hotel were lovely, it has to be said. The location was very nice as well, just a short walk from Canary Wharf.
