Remote ans Stunning but Unfortunately...
Liked: The property itself was absolutely stunning, and the surrounding views were nothing short of breathtaking. With clear blue skies and sunshine for the full six days, we genuinely felt like we were abroad at times. The site is beautifully laid out, peaceful, well-maintained, and far enough out of the way to really feel like an escape from the everyday. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. One of the highlights was how easy it was to unwind and just enjoy the natural surroundings. The winding streams and small lakes that run through the grounds gave everything a tranquil, almost untouched feel. We loved being able to stroll through the woodland paths, sit by the water, and just take it all in without the usual crowds.Being slightly more remote than some of the more touristy spots in the Lakes worked massively in its favour. We could just go for a walk or hop on the bus at the entrance and go exploring without worrying about traffic or parking, it made getting around feel effortless and added to the relaxed pace of the trip. Whether we stayed on-site or ventured out, there was a real sense of calm and space that made the place feel special.
Disliked: While we had high hopes for our stay, there were several aspects that didn’t quite meet expectations especially considering the price point. On our first day, we arrived around 5pm and were given directions to our room and advised where to park. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any parking near our building/room, so had to drive all the way around the site, unload our luggage, then drive back again to leave the car at reception. After all that faffing around, we just wanted to settle in and get something to eat. However, we ended up waiting over 20 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated, awkwardly standing in the entrance. It wasn’t the best first impression. The following evening was even more disappointing. We waited over an hour and a half for our first course. A staff member did mention they were particularly busy, but it was still a frustrating experience, especially when a service charge of over £15 was added to the bill. Thankfully, the rest of our meals and breakfasts throughout the stay were much smoother, and the food overall was very good and definitely worth the wait when service was running properly. We had also pre booked the couples’ spa treatment for 2 occasions over our six-day stay. While the massage element was genuinely relaxing, the overall experience was disappointing. For the price, the spa felt far too overcrowded. The small hot tub had five couples in it, with another three sitting around on chairs on a cramped rooftop terrace. Every steam room seemed to already have a couple in it as well, making it hard to relax or enjoy any privacy. It felt so uncomfortable that we left after just 30 minutes, even though the session was meant to last three hours. We ended up cancelling our second booking. After chatting to other couples, it was clear we weren’t alone in feeling this way. I mentioned our concerns to the main reception on checkout and was told it would be passed on.

Liked: Amazing stay again and credit to the staff at such a busy time.
Disliked: It was disappointing that a lot of the spa treatments/ saunas were not in use, especially when there was no discount in the cost?
