The Spotlight on Lamothe House Hotel

Stay in Classic New Orleans Style, Just Steps from the Music

Lamothe House Hotel blends 19th-century charm with modern comforts in the heart of New Orleans’ Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. Located on historic Esplanade Avenue and adjacent to the French Quarter, this beautifully restored property offers a truly local experience, complete with antique furnishings, a tranquil garden courtyard, and a refreshing outdoor pool. Whether you're here for a weekend of live shows or a quick stop to catch your favorite artist, Lamothe House puts you right in the mix—just a short walk from the French Market, Frenchmen Street, and Bourbon Street’s buzzing entertainment scene.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just minutes—literally—from some of New Orleans’ best live music venues. Walk five minutes to Frenchmen Street, or take a quick stroll to Bourbon Street. After the show, return to a peaceful room tucked behind a gated courtyard, where the city’s energy fades just enough to let you recharge. With 24-hour concierge service and luggage storage, it’s easy to explore late or check in after a night out. The hotel’s classic New Orleans vibe makes for a memorable stay, even when the music stops.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends—adjoining rooms are available, making it easy to stay together
  • Solo travelers—safe, walkable location near top venues
  • Couples—romantic antique suites and quiet garden spaces
  • Fans needing recovery space—relax by the pool or unwind in the courtyard
  • Budget-conscious travelers—affordable rates with character and convenience

Food and Drink Options

While Lamothe House doesn’t offer on-site dining, you’re surrounded by authentic local eats. Grab late-night bites on Frenchmen Street or explore the French Market’s casual options. Many nearby cafes serve breakfast well into the afternoon, perfect after a night of shows. Plus, room amenities like cable TV and cozy beds make it easy to snack and relax in your room.

Nightlife Options

Step outside and you’re in one of New Orleans’ richest live music zones. Frenchmen Street is packed with jazz clubs, dive bars, and lounges—ideal for spontaneous nights out. Prefer something low-key? The hotel’s courtyard and garden pond offer a chill space to wind down with a drink from a nearby bar.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s historic charm and say it “feels like stepping into old New Orleans.” Many praise the location for being close to action but still quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The pool and courtyard are frequent highlights, as is the warm and helpful staff.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the older building means quirky layouts or smaller bathrooms, and street-facing rooms can catch a bit of city noise. But most agree the charm and location make up for it—just pack some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to be near the music but stay somewhere with soul, Lamothe House Hotel is a perfect mix of location, character, and comfort.

Exceptional

Liked: The house is beautiful and the rooms are basic and clean. Each room has coffee (so important!) and toiletries. There was a pool and it looked clean, but I didn't use it. I would text this hotel, it's in a good location.

Excellent location and pretty hotel,...

Liked: We loved the location of the hotel! It was close enough to walk most places and drives were very short. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony with my book, and my partner liked getting to walk downstairs for a cup of coffee in the mornings.
Disliked: The latch on the door was very misaligned, so we had to force it closed every night. There was less than a foot of space between the toilet and the sink (I'm not very tall, but anyone else might have an issue, including my partner). There was no fridge in the room, which was our fault for not checking (and wasn't a big deal, but might be for others!).

Loved it!

Liked: Fantastic location. Pool is wonderful. Comfy bed, clean rooms. AC stayed nice and cold. There's a converted house behind the main property, I had room 405, and it was really spacious. Curtains kept the room dark at night.
Disliked: My only minor complaint was that the room stayed pretty damp due to it being an old building with windows that aren't sealed. Being summer in New Orleans, there was a good bit of rain, and my wet clothes and swimsuit never really dried out.

A lot of Fun! Pool...

Liked: The pool was great! It was nice to come back in the afternoon just to hang out. We got a private “guest house” which is across the street from the actual hotel but honestly it wasn’t that bad. We still has access to everything. The room was nice a bit loud a few nights being next to Frenchmen street. The staff was very very nice and super helpful!
Disliked: Just that it can be loud at night but it was only one night we had a problem getting sleep throughout the night .
