Liked: Lovely staff, nice breakfast, yummy chocolate in the room!
Disliked: Room was a bit small given the price, light wasn’t working, but no real complaints.

Brilliant location and building, and...

Liked: The hotel is in an excellent location. Very close to the station and the Lace Market/Hockley area. It’s a beautiful building. The breakfast was fine with a lovely efficient member of staff serving. The lady on reception in the morning was very pleasant.
Disliked: It really is in need of an update. The carpets on the stairs were threadbare in places and the hotel needs repainting. My room on the top floor was boiling and the bathroom was very outdated. The Cock and Hoop pub attached to the hotel is tatty.

Great location, comfortable stay

Liked: Great location. Welcoming staff and also left a bottle of fizz in room as requested, with a nice card to say happy anniversary. Our room was the most basic and it was well equipped and comfy. The bathroom was great.
Disliked: Larger bed perhaps, however we did book the cheapest option so I don’t think this was an issue. We had one set of towels left initially which wasn’t enough. Staff happily provided more though when we asked.

Hot and stuffy rooms needing...

Liked: Breakfast was good, staff very friendly.
Disliked: 1. It is unacceptable to have rooms that have windows which do not open - we were a party of 6, assigned 3 rooms with beautiful church yard views but none of them had openable windows so the air was stale and hot all night. This meant really bad night sleeps. 2. It is unacceptable to give guests rooms where the AC does not work and the windows cannot be opened.3. The cleanliness to an upgraded room - ie more expensive room, was terrible - see attached photo.

Stunning Hotel ideally placed for...

Liked: The Property is gorgeous and our Room had a chandelier and a standalone bath and shower cubicle and there was free Prosecco in the Mini bar. We felt like royalty. Really handy for The Arena and a couple of fabulous bars nearby as well.
Disliked: Nothing wrong with the property at all but what let the stay down was breakfast the following morning. Waited ages to order all the buffet stuff was waiting to be restocked and no plates or bowls available. We got the last table. Such a shame the Restaurant didn’t live up to the very high standards of the hotel

Convenient for my overnight stay

Liked: Good location and great value - lovely room with a lot of extras . View of the cathedral ( though the other rooftops nearby were derelict and not so appealing !!)
Disliked: Although there is a lift there are several steps at the entrance and a flight of steps to negotiate near the room I was given - not easy with heavy luggage so worth checking beforehand
