Liked: Staff was friendly. Excellent location for sightseeing. Excellent breakfast. Good room size and amenities.
Disliked: No elevator, but staff accommodated request for a lower-floor room for elderly family member.

An okay hotel in the...

Liked: Friendly staff, the hotel is in the city centre of Douai from where you can walk straight into the shopping streets and/or restaurants to grab a bite. Train station also within walking distance.
Disliked: The hotel has 4 stars which made me expect a bit more. The bed was absolutely great, but some things made me feel that I was staying in an okay 3 star hotel. For example: staff didn't wear any uniforms but general clothing, the breakfast was okay but standard and in my room during my stay there was no cold water, only warm. Some if the finishes in the room such as the painting done on the doorframe of the bathroom looked like a one coat DIY. Having said all that I had an okay stay, but because of the 4-star rating I had expected a bit more.
