La Reserve Bed and Breakfast

Reminded me so much of my own home. A little run down, but that can be said for every single bit of Philadelphia I saw. I think it added to the homey feeling. Spacious room. Very clean. Firm mattress. Each member of the staff we encountered was friendly. They answered our questions, made good suggestions, and helped us avoid getting lost in the city. I've had better continental breakfasts but the cooked breakfast was tasty if a little small. The breakfast chef has a great personality. I don't frequent Philly but I will be looking to stay here on my next visit.

La Reserve is a very lovely Bed and Breakfast. The staff at La Reserve helped me find my way around Philadelphia. The breakfast on Saturday was delicious. I had a wonderful visit and was able to attend a concert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby.

Liked: Location, location, location!
Disliked: Limited lighting in the bedroom due to a blown fuse. Did not have tv for 2 of our 3 nights and although our vacation was not based on tv, we were told by all those who knew we were going to Philly to make sure we were back at our accommodations before dark because the city is very different at night. So, we had planned for family movie night but it didn’t happen due to no tv. Also, the mat just outside the shower was dirty and our reservation was for 3 people and yet only 2 towels found in the room and no additional sheets for the pull out found either. Both of these were attainable upon request but it was just odd that it wasn’t already present.

Liked: There was a noticeable difference between the weekday breakfast, which was pretty mediocre, and the much better quality of the breakfast over the weekend.
Disliked: There was no clarity or justification regarding the room pricing. I was charged nearly $100 more per night for a room that was half the size of my friend's. When I inquired at the front desk, they apologized but couldn’t offer any explanation—only that the owner sets the prices. The room is also not very clean.
