The Spotlight on La Reserve Bed and Breakfast

Charming 1800s Elegance in the Heart of Philly

La Reserve Bed and Breakfast is a cozy and historic escape in downtown Philadelphia, just steps from the lively Rittenhouse Square and within easy reach of top concert venues. This vintage-inspired B&B blends 19th-century style with modern comforts like free Wi-Fi and air-conditioned rooms. With its unique décor, grand piano parlor, and family-style breakfast setting, it offers a truly one-of-a-kind stay for music fans looking for something more personal than a chain hotel.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything — and La Reserve nails it. You're a short walk or quick cab ride from major music halls and theaters. The B&B’s quiet, relaxed atmosphere makes it ideal for winding down after a loud night out. While late check-in isn't specifically advertised, the concierge service is helpful and friendly, and the luggage storage comes in handy if you're catching a show before your room is ready. Bonus: No street-facing club noise to keep you up.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a unique and memorable stay
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime gig
  • Couples turning their concert night into a romantic weekend
  • Fans who prefer a quiet retreat after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want charm and comfort

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, guests enjoy a free, homemade breakfast in a chandelier-lit dining room — perfect for late risers after a long night out. The B&B is also surrounded by top dining spots like Parc, Devon Seafood, and Rouge, all within walking distance and ideal for pre-show dinners or post-show bites. Rooms with full kitchens are also available in select units, giving you the option to whip up your own snacks or late-night meals.

Nightlife Options

Though La Reserve itself is serene, you're just minutes from some of Philly’s best nightlife. Whether it’s live music at nearby venues or cocktails at lounges around Rittenhouse Square, it’s easy to keep the night going. If you're in the mood for something more low-key, the hotel offers a smaller lounge with a TV and comfy armchairs for wind-down time.

What People Say

Guests rave about the location, calling it “perfect for walking to everything” and “ideal for concert nights.” The historic charm and “homey atmosphere” are frequently praised, as well as the friendly staff and cleanliness. Travelers also highlight the spacious rooms and artistic decor as standout features that elevate the overall experience.

Areas for Improvement

The building’s lack of elevators means it's not ideal for those with mobility issues, as rooms are only accessible by stairs. Some guests mention that the vintage furniture leans more “quirky” than luxurious — but that’s all part of the charm for most.

The Bottom Line

A peaceful, vintage-inspired Philly stay with modern perks and a location that puts you steps from the city's best concert experiences.

Athena, New Cumberland, visiting The Met Philadelphia

Reminded me so much of my own home. A little run down, but that can be said for every single bit of Philadelphia I saw. I think it added to the homey feeling. Spacious room. Very clean. Firm mattress. Each member of the staff we encountered was friendly. They answered our questions, made good suggestions, and helped us avoid getting lost in the city. I've had better continental breakfasts but the cooked breakfast was tasty if a little small. The breakfast chef has a great personality. I don't frequent Philly but I will be looking to stay here on my next visit.

Liked: The staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Continental breakfast was meh. Cooked breakfast was much better but too small.

Margaret G, Ithaca New York, visiting Tower Theater Upper Darby

La Reserve is a very lovely Bed and Breakfast. The staff at La Reserve helped me find my way around Philadelphia. The breakfast on Saturday was delicious. I had a wonderful visit and was able to attend a concert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby.

Liked: Spacious, beautiful bedroom at an affordable price.
Disliked: Too many attractions nearby and not enough time.

Great experience

Liked: Everything was great, though we didn’t realize during booking that the bathroom would be shared. That said, it was always clean and easily accessible, so it wasn’t an issue. The place itself was cozy and full of charm, with the character of old Philly. The location is fantastic—just a short walk to restaurants, the Delaware River, Old City, and more. A really lovely place to stay!

A historic gem in the...

Liked: Location was excellent - one of the best neighborhoods in Philly. Property also had a lot of historic charm. There is a wide range of opinion about the breakfast - it is a bit more upgraded on the weekend but is fine during the week.
Disliked: Like any older property, there are a few minor repairs that need to be made, like a missing drawer handle on a nightstand or bathroom blinds they didn't completely close.

Liked: Location
Disliked: We reserved the suite with the kitchen. No coffee or sugar packets for the coffee machine. - No basic supplies at all. Even most basic hotel rooms have coffee products in the room with their coffee set up.

Very good

Liked: Very friendly staff and great location! The room was spacious, and the bed very comfortable. Would stay there again!
Disliked: We came back late and had no water with us, so having a water fountain or filtered water or even complementary bottled waters in the room or in the common space would have been good!

Charming, comfortable, convenient.

Liked: Charming, quiet, convenient. Fully outfitted kitchen. I was in the Chatham room.
Disliked: Prepare for stairs! I was on the top floor, 38 narrow, winding steps up. Employees brought my bag up and down, which was wonderful. Decor in my room was tired, especially the wall hangings.
