La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham South Bend

Not sure it was worth...

Liked: Proximity to the airport. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: The pool was being repaired- that was not mentioned at booking. At one point, my toilet became plugged up and close to overflowing. There wasn’t a phone in the room so I went to the main desk and he asked me to check if the water went down and to let him know if I needed a plunger. As I was walking back to my room, another person staying there was walking towards me with a plunger and I even said “oh, yours too?”…anyway, the toilet still wasn’t working so I went back to the desk and the attendant gave me a plunger for ME to do maintenance myself on my toilet. I could not believe it.

I love La Quinta, but...

Liked: The hotel has very easy parking and is essentially connected to South Bend Airport, so very handy in the right circumstances. Edith keeps the kitchen area spotless and is the bright spot here. Waffles are excellent.
Disliked: The facilities are just aging and in poor condition, way below standard for La Quinta. Our first room we discovered had a non-working AC unit/thermostat and a bathroom door that wouldn't close at all, let alone lock. So we moved (at 10pm) to another room that was "checked out" by the manager. At 3a.m. I discovered the toilet didn't flush (fixed the next morning) and that evening we found with wet hair that there was no hairdryer and the manager couldn't find another for one hour. The shower faucet functioned but looked like it could come out of the wall at any moment. The hallways reek strongly of cleaning solvents.

Liked: Exceptional breakfast, friendly and attentive service. Bed linens were exceptionally fresh and bed was top quality

Liked: I like these hotels in general
Disliked: The guy at the front desk was rude and wouldn't let me get a word in. Also when I went to check the room, it took three times for the key to work just to get in the room. Plus the room was small and not worth all the frustration.

Liked: the staff was extremely friendly when i checked in and out. it was very clean and very reasonably priced!
Disliked: the breakfast but hotel breakfast is never yummy :(
