Flies/Mosquitoes – Misleading Staff and...
Liked: The rooms are not too bad, there is a swimming pool, free parking, lot of pet area, I like that it was away from the city hustle. On the plus side, they did allow my dog in the room, which I appreciated.
Disliked: I’m usually very accommodating and willing to overlook minor inconveniences, but this stay left me genuinely disappointed. I had booked a king room specifically for the in-room jet tub, which the queen rooms didn’t offer. On the plus side, they did allow my dog in the room, which I appreciated.Due to cleanliness concerns (flies/mosquitoes), I asked the receptionist if we could switch to a room with two queen beds. She immediately told me they were sold out (Lie #1). I checked Booking.com and saw four available rooms. When I pointed this out, she claimed they had just been cleaned and were only now showing up online (Lie #2)—this was within 15 minutes of our conversation around 4:30pm Saturday.She kept repeating, "I’m just doing my job," but in my opinion, her job should have included making reasonable accommodations for a guest dealing with an unexpected issue. She then asked if I would pay the difference to switch to the queen room, even though I know those rooms are priced lower than the king suite with the jet tub (Lie #3).After a long drive, our plan was to rest, freshen up, and head out for sightseeing. Instead, we were met with a lack of flexibility and a receptionist who not only lied but followed up with attitude. She told me I could cancel the reservation for a full refund and go elsewhere—so we did. I wasn’t about to spend two nights and three days near such unwelcoming staff even though we had lost about 2 hours dealing with this situation.Having run my own customer-facing business, I understand how demanding these roles can be. I wasn’t upset until I realized she was being dishonest and rude, despite me being in a cheerful vacation mindset. She crossed a line, and the atmosphere quickly turned from disappointing to outright hostile.I captured a video of the flies/mosquitoes in the room, but since Booking.
