La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charleston Riverview

My overall stay was very good. I was a little nervous about staying in a room with an outside door. Hotel was unable to accommodate me otherwise. I was the last room facing the highway. With that in mind, getting back later from the theatre my key card would sporadically not function. Luckily it did work that night. Good visit; breakfast satisfactory.

Liked: Room was very comfortable.
Disliked: Key was not working.

Excellent stay; nice location; very helpful staff. Came down for the Charleston Marathon.

Initial room was unclean. Dirty; urine on commode; dusty. Dogs barking incessantly. Front desk clerk was less than excited to help us out, although eventually she did give us another room. That room reaked of cigarettes but was the only room left for the night. It too was dusty and dirty but at least there no urine on the commode.

Liked: Location.

It was okay, little overpriced...

Liked: Location. Responsive staff. Price.
Disliked: Building and room were in disrepair. Needs remodeling. Mold in bath and paint chipping. Symptoms of neglect. Furnishings old and dated.

Cheap. Damp. Doors open to...

Liked: Good location, very inexpensive. Staff were very nice. The beds, while small (full?) were not hard as rocks, which was nice. Plenty of pillows, there was a desk with chair. The water was hot with no strange smells or tastes.
Disliked: From the pictures, we thought we were getting a hotel with interior hallways. Surprise, there's a second building which has outward-opening doors and exterior walkways, and that's where we were put. I really don't like this style of hotel because my wife and girls are forced to walk by whoever feels like they should be out on the narrow outdoor walk sunning themselves or whatever. It's not a safe layout. If we had known, we wouldn't have stayed there for this reason alone. If you're selling me this sort of room, you should be telling me this in big, flashing letters, and your online pictures should match.We had a 3rd floor room with two beds. The room had a smell which we first thought was just stuffiness, but later realized was weed smoked by the previous occupant. We're home now washing everything we own; it's not an end of the world thing. Our stay was in June, and the humidity level in the room, even with the A/C set at 72, was near 100%. EVERYTHING, including the mattress, sheets, etc, was very damp. Everything. This probably explained the heavy tarnish on all of the fixtures. Even if it didn't smell like weed, we'd still be washing everything because it'd quickly be mildewing.The beds were OK for people of our size, but heavier people aren't going to sleep 2 to a bed.Parking was $15/day in the hotel lot. It's in the fine print. It's literally the hotel's own lot; it's not across the street, on a detached lot, etc....why do they charge for parking? We're from the country, so maybe this is perfectly normal. Take it with a grain of salt knowing our background.Did I mention you may be getting rooms with exterior 'halls?' LOL.

Don't stay here. Spend more...

Liked: Location was good. This was the only thing that was good.
Disliked: Our carpet was always wet, very high humidity in the room. My own dry clothes became damp just by being exposed to this environment. The bathroom floor was sticky and overall needs a solid renovation. Facility smells of weed even though there are no smoking signs everywhere. Would never stay here again

Clean nice location

Liked: Room was spacious and comfortable. Nice view. Complimentary breakfast was good. Location was great. Clean place. Nice pool
Disliked: Breakfast could have been switched up some instead of having the same things everyday. I wasn't happy that I had to pay for parking for being a registered guest? Never had to do that before. Front desk staff and older lady that done breakfast one day acted as if they didn't like their job and were not friendly at all. Ice maker on floor 2 did not work at all our whole stay. Candy and snacks from the little market were priced outrageously high.

Disliked: The staff do not give any orientation to the room.This needs to be addressed because there are many facilities but a client may not know how to use themSecondly,I was deducted more money than I was to spend in total,only to realize after my bank sent an alert message.I inquired from the front desk and one of the workers, Dody, said it was a mistake but he was not apologetic at all..He said he had reversed the excess of about 184.68 dollars to my account on 7 th but I have not yet received it up to now.Let the hotel management work on this apparent lapse.
