La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Capitol

Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Our experience was pretty good. The room was a little expensive but it is Austin and it was a weekend. I would do it again.

Disliked: We arrived and check in was supposed to be at 3:00. The room wasn’t ready until 4:30. The lobby was dirty. We asked why the room wasn’t ready and the man at the counter was annoyed and said the cleaning staff was short so it was what it was and the room wasn’t ready.

Liked: The location is good, and the staff were nice. The bed was big and comfortable.
Disliked: The shower took a really long time to heat up. I finally just took a lukewarm shower. The handle for the shower indicated as if the cold side was hot and vice versa. I did not park it on site. The sign said 'valet' parking. 'Valet' does not mean 'on site parking'. It means someone parks your car for you. Never saw a valet. So I parked in a pay garage around the corner and saved $33. The hotel itself is rough looking because it is old, which was no big deal.

Awful experience.

Disliked: The front desk smelled bad. The elevator was not functioning properly and had no ventilation. The room was dirty, and the AC did not work at all. I called the front desk twice, but they said they did not have a maintenance person to fix the AC and told me to just turn it off and on again. I was not offered a room change. The night staff appeared to be high, as the place smelled like marijuana. I found an empty pack of cigarettes under the sofa. The bathroom also seemed poorly cleaned.
