Liked: The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room was warm and comfortable. With fridge, coffee machine and a slight view of the Garonne.
Disliked: I wish there had been written information about the building.

Dissapointing and underwhelming. Felt unwelcome.

Liked: The courtyard is lovely, a nice place to sit and relax. The breakfast was very good. Excellent coffee. The server at breakfast was the one staff member who seemed genuinely warm and personable. Bathroom products (shampoo, soap etc) were very nice and plentiful.
Disliked: I had high expectations for the stay given the price point. I was looking for something a bit special, more specifically I was looking for that feeling of being made very welcome, like you are a real guest, not someone passing through. I was also hoping for a room that had a bit of 'wow' and felt worth paying the price for. Unfortunately the room was pretty uninspiring - functional but bland and felt basic. No special touches, felt more like big bland brand hotel room. Also unfortunately the staff seemed detached, treated us more like we were travelling for work, or just another person passing through. This was mostly dissapointing because I had messaged the hotel in advance explaining that we were doing something unusual by booking this 'boutique' hotel, and were hoping for a special experience. When I arrived at the hotel, to their credit, they did ackowledge this note and did ask what specifically I was looking for. I answered by asking if I could look at the rooms available, and choose. I like to do this as I understand that each person has different taste and preferences, and if I get to see a couple of rooms and choose then of course I am more likely to enjoy the environment. Unfortunately the host seemed uncomfortable with this request and explained that their process was to choose the room for us. This is fine, but when I was asked again to tell them how they could accommodate me better, I again said that picking the room would be most helpful, but was again told 'that's not how we do things'. By the time they asked a third time if there was anything they could do to make the stay special, I was too embarrassed to repeat my request. This contributed to the overall impression that we were out of place there. Throughout the stay I felt as though we were to fit in with the way things were done in this fancy hotel, rather than the hotel was making efforts to make us feel welcome.

Liked: Great bar staff - brilliant cocktails. Good breakfast.
Disliked: No air con and the room was super warm which was very unpleasant - apparently the city rules say they can't turn it on at this time of year. and the room was damp smelling because of a big damp / humidity issue in the bathroom which we pointed out.

Liked: The staff, the high quality of food, drinks.

Exceptional

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff. Facilities were excellent and the food was sublime - the restaurant is not to be missed and well deserving of its Michelin star.

Disliked: As I arrived I was "judged" by the look of the 3 ladies at the reception by my appearance/ travel clothes... The talest of them screened me from head to toe before she even said hello.
