Liked: Our room was quite new for Scottish standards maybe 5-7 years old.
Disliked: We had the Deluxe King, and the view from bed and balcony is part sea, mountain but also public toilet…General in front of the hotel is a public toilet.

Gloomy room, unprofessional staff, beautiful...

Liked: The location is wonderful, nice deck and breakfast room too.
Disliked: The room was dark and gloomy, with hardly any daylight because of the small window. Moreover, the window was looking out on a blind wall. We felt very unwelcome at our arrival- very unprofessional staff. Nobody at the reception desk although we had communicated our time of arrival, long waiting although we had checked in on line, and we got a gloomy dark room at the back. No free table in the restaurant for dinner although we had booked a time slot a week in advance. No staff available to welcome hotel guests and check reservations.Tables weren’t cleared. Next morning at breakfast, tables weren’t cleared, no refills of the buffet, it took 20’ before orders were taken, no staff in the room to ask for coffee or toast. When you want a drink on the (wonderful) deck, they tell you at the bar to go outside again and scan the qr code. That didn’t work. It took nearly an hour before we got just two cokes. Tables weren’t cleared. Clearly the staff was untrained, they didn’t see we had no cutlery, no coffee, and so on. Jobstudents? Understaffed? What a difference with Dornoch Castle Hotel, Ullapool Harbour House or all the other hotels we’ve stayed in! After our complaint, the manager took care so that luckily we had a reserved table at dinner time the next day. And we got a little present of housekeeping for making up for our gloomy room. But in all, a negative experience with this extremely overrated hotel. Luckily, the beautiful location made up a lot.

Brilliant hotel in a breathtaking...

Liked: Location was fantastic as was evening meal. Drinks and bar with decking area also very good. Panoramic views from restauraunt over loch and mountains unbeatable.
Disliked: Room was stuffy even with a fan on, would have benefited from air conditioning. Missed some small touches in room like tissues and slippers.

A very enjoyable stay in...

Liked: Location was spectacular. Very nicely decorated rooms and lovely food.
Disliked: Slow check out due to too few staff.

Liked: The most incredible location, this is a very special place: beautiful rooms, outstanding seafood restaurant, kind, friendly attentive staff.
Disliked: We loved it all.
