Near to the Gare du...
Liked: The hotel room was generously sized, and the air conditioning worked well on a hot August night. For those who like their own wash basin, our double room had one each. There was a fridge/minibar and coffee machine in the room. The hotel was chosen for its proximity to the Gare du Nord.
Disliked: I was glad to be accompanied by my husband walking from the metro to the hotel as I would not have felt so safe as a woman alone. That said, we witnessed no harrassment or trouble, although there were sounds of a brawl outside after we had gone to bed.Although the keycard restricted access to the room, there didn't appear to be anything to stop non-residents entering the building and going up the stairs to the bedrooms.

Passable
Disliked: Not the Hotels fault but the area is not good. Didn’t feel comfortable to walk anywhere locally.

Great place to stay in...
Liked: Very nice and unique place! Very friendly staff - Rubin and the night shift person are very professional and nice. I also liked the interior design and restaurant/bar.
Disliked: The neighborhood is on the rough side, but they offer a garage to keep your car safe inside, and you can use Uber, if you'd like to avoid walking to the subway.

No air conditioning, dangerous bathtub...
Liked: The breakfast was good. A young man was making omelets to order. They had a nice coffee machine until it ran out of milk. The staff did their best.
Disliked: Despite being assured multiple times that there was air conditioning in our rooms (Paris: stone and concrete in August with heat waves and climate change), our rooms were like saunas. Nearly no airflow from the AC. The solution was to open the windows, which put us in the position of entertaining the lovely people across the street on their balconies less than 100 feet away. This also led to the ethnic beat and raucous noise from the "Kabul Cafe" which entertained us until midnight. The very large, deep bathtub (which was nice initially), but when it was time to get out, it had no non-slip strips, pull bars, or handles to get out, which was dangerous. They advertise an "airport shuttle" which was the front desk people calling a taxi - not the same thing. The neighborhood streets didn't seem conducive to survival after dark on foot.

Restaurant CLOSED for the whole...
Liked: Staff were polite and helpful
Disliked: Got to check in to be told the restaurant is CLOSED for the whole month of August. Given where the location is, we chose to order from JustEat. (It does say on their website it is closed, but not on booking.com so we were unaware) The room was ok, the flooring felt sticky and looked dirty. A little dated.
