A new experience in Knightsbridge

Liked: Location, design elements. Breakfast was nice.
Disliked: Being in the dark cellar/no view/miniscule bathroom. The ongoing; next door office/kitchen/maintenance/bin men noise and our only interaction. Noisy floorboards above that didn’t stop. No tea making facilities…clunky check in, being charged an extra $100.00 for a service (outside of people doing their job) for service we didn’t get. Housekeeping that just walk in without notice. I’m English and get the idea that it’s meant to be akin to staying in a well appointed town house as a guest but felt we were greeted with a tea towel and the expectation to earn our keep. Whilst I imagine the ‘downstairs’ rooms make money which would be fine for an overnight stay to see a show perhaps but to book mid-week,out of season, five months earlier and flown 30 hours from Australia to celebrate it was all a bit disappointing. I’ve been a fan of the brand for a long time, had talked it up and justified the expense (AUD effected and we’re away for a month) and this experience didn’t live up to expectations sadly.

Disliked: The cooked English breakfast was average. "Over easy" doesn't mean over cooked and "scrambled". Bacon was over cooked and hard.The "dining room" was too small. Some tables were too low.Staff was below average.I do not understand why Firmdale does not offer any benefits to returning guests.
