The Spotlight on Kingswood Hotel

Peaceful Countryside Escape with City Access

Charming and serene, the Kingswood Hotel offers a tranquil retreat nestled in two acres of gardens and woodlands. Located in Glenrothes, it boasts panoramic views over the Firth of Forth and is just a 40-minute drive to Edinburgh – perfect for concert-goers who want a quiet base after a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

While it's not directly in the city center, Kingswood’s peaceful location makes it a fantastic option for fans attending gigs in Edinburgh who prefer to escape the post-concert buzz. After a big night, unwind in the countryside with no noise complaints. Though public transport is limited late at night, the drive is scenic and manageable for those with a car – and parking is easy.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a relaxed weekend
Solo travelers wanting quiet recovery after the show
Couples making a romantic getaway out of the concert
Fans who want a breather from the crowds
Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t mind staying just outside the city

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s on-site restaurant is a local favorite, known for its freshly prepared homemade dishes crafted by a highly praised head chef. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the dinner menu is ideal for a post-show meal if you’re back before closing. Breakfast is available and perfect for a slow start after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find a club scene here, but the hotel bar offers a cozy spot to wind down with a drink. If you’re up for more action, nearby towns have pubs, or you can head back into Edinburgh earlier for the full nightlife experience.

What People Say

Guests rave about the friendly staff, peaceful setting, and excellent food. Many love the feeling of being tucked away in the countryside without being too far from Scotland’s cultural hotspots. The views over the Firth of Forth are frequently mentioned as a highlight.

Areas for Improvement

The main thing to note is the distance from Edinburgh – it’s not walkable to venues, so a car is recommended. Also, late-night transport options are minimal, so plan ahead if attending a concert that runs late.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a tranquil, comfortable base with great food and don’t mind a short drive, Kingswood Hotel is a perfect countryside pick.

Pleasant

Liked: Location is beautiful
Disliked: It’s all very dated. I think with a little investment this hotel and especially the restaurant it could get more out if it. It was ok but to dated and old fashion for a next visit.

Disliked: Walls a bit thin if you have noisy neighbours. A bit of a hike to Edinburgh but ok if you park and ride.

Charming quaint place. Has its...

Liked: Charming place. Nice balcony view, not many rooms so the place is not packed, don't have to compete with lots of visitors. Small quaint village. Not a lot going on there but good for quiet and calm. Breakfast included and eggs were tasty. Mushrooms had great flavor.
Disliked: When I arrived I went to take a shower and the rooms have electric showers which I've never seen before. Didn't receive any instruction during check in on how to use. Spent 20 min trying to figure it out only to determine it was broken as the door didn't close. Called down to the single staff member present at that time place and he switched us to another room. Next day, went to town and came back to discover room was never cleaned. Very disappointed at that. Manager or owner was a nice fellow, very apologetic. Restaurant manager brought up some fresh towels and coffee. There were no temperature controls. Room was very hot so I had to open the sliders which lead to the outside. As a result, the birds, the sunlight, and the train/traffic woke me up early so I had very interrupted sleep. No blackout curtains either so I had to sleep with sliders open to the outside balcony, a black t shirt over my face to block out the sun, and headphones on to black out the sound.
