The Spotlight on Kingsmills Hotel

Garden Serenity Meets City Access for Music Lovers

Modern comfort with a touch of Highland charm, the Kingsmills Hotel is a peaceful yet convenient base for concert-goers in Inverness. Set within 4 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, this upscale hotel features a full spa, leisure club, and indoor pool—all just one mile from the energetic city centre.
Spacious rooms, many with garden views or private patios, provide a relaxing post-show retreat. With free parking and a range of amenities, it’s an ideal blend of tranquility and accessibility.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location-wise, it’s a winner—just a short drive or taxi ride to the city's top venues, yet far enough for a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel’s 4pm check-in and 11am checkout are well-suited for those arriving in time for a show and sleeping in the next morning. After a late concert, unwind in the sauna or steam room, or simply relax in the garden-view rooms.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a comfortable base near the city
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream gig in Inverness
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music fans seeking great value with spa perks

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Inglis Restaurant dishes up locally sourced cuisine, while the conservatory brasserie serves a more casual menu—perfect for late arrivals. While there's no 24/7 room service, you’ll find flexible dining hours and hearty breakfast options for late risers. The hotel bar is a great spot for a quiet drink before or after the show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is a bit of a retreat, it’s only a short ride to Inverness’s lively pubs and music bars. The on-site bar offers a relaxed vibe with local whiskies and craft drinks—ideal for winding down after the encore.

What People Say

Guests rave about the spacious rooms, lush gardens, and friendly staff. Many highlight the spa and leisure facilities as a huge bonus after a night out. The location gets high marks for being close to the city centre but far enough for a peaceful stay. Cleanliness and comfort are also frequently praised.

Areas for Improvement

A few guests noted that some parts of the hotel feel slightly dated, and the walk into town is around 20 minutes—so a taxi may be preferable after a long night. Also, while the dining is top-notch, late-night food options are somewhat limited.

The Bottom Line

Kingsmills Hotel offers a perfect balance of relaxing luxury and city access—just what concert-goers need for a comfortable and memorable stay in Inverness.

Beautiful hotel.

Liked: Our room was so large with a living room attached. Beautiful walk in shower. Good choice at breakfast. Welcome drink on arrival. Easy parking
Disliked: Didn’t like eating breakfast in the reception foyer, with everyone walking past. That was my only criticism.

An awful deception.

Disliked: I am so disappointed. When we arrived we were told our room wasn’t in the Kingsmills building at all, rather in a concrete cube across the parking lot - where we trudged with a toddler and 4 suitcases without any assistance. There was no indication when booking that we would be anywhere other than the historic building - which we had paid a premium for. The room was the equivalent of a Comfort Inn, no charm, no character, cheap furniture - the drawers on the night table were purely decorative and the lights turned on all or nothing. Breakfast was not edible - thawed frozen berry mush, tinned pears, tinned pineapples, dry fried eggs and mass produced pastries. 3 out of the 4 tea cups on our breakfast table were dirty with lipstick stain or coffee rings and there was a hair in the sugar bowl. Don’t bother with this hotel, the pictures are deceiving and there are much nicer places in town.

Overall the hotel is nice....

Liked: We stood in the restaurant for a while waiting to be seated for lunch. No one came over although there were two waitresses standing looking at us. We left as no one came over or spoke to us.
Disliked: The car park gets full quickly so it’s best to arrive before 4 pm.
