The Spotlight on Kings Arms Hotel - A Bespoke Hotel

Historic Charm Meets Highland Views Near Skye's Live Music Scene

Nestled in the quaint village of Kyleakin just steps from the Skye Bridge, the Kings Arms Hotel - A Bespoke Hotel is a character-filled retreat with roots dating back to the 1600s. With panoramic views across the Kyle of Lochalsh and a cozy, traditional vibe, this is one of the oldest hotels on the Isle of Skye—offering a peaceful stay with modern touches for today’s traveler.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans love the Kings Arms for its serene setting that’s still within easy reach of Skye’s key gathering spots. After a night of live music, you'll appreciate the quiet village surroundings for a mellow wind-down. The flexible check-in from 15:00 gives you plenty of time to settle in before heading out, and the location makes it easy to explore other cultural stops like Talisker Distillery or a round of golf before the show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a laid-back base with shared stories and sea views
  • Solo travelers ticking off that dream Skye gig
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of music and misty landscapes
  • Fans seeking a quiet post-concert recovery space in a historic setting
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting charm without the splurge

Food and Drink Options

While late-night dining may be limited in this peaceful village, the hotel offers on-site meals and a cozy bar for pre- or post-show bites. There are also walkable local pubs and eateries nearby. Breakfast is available—ideal when you’ve stayed out late soaking in the music.

Nightlife Options

The vibe here is more post-show pint than party central, with a traditional bar perfect for winding down. For more action, head across the bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh or plan your evening around Skye’s seasonal music events and pub gigs.

What People Say

Guests consistently highlight the stunning views, friendly staff, and the hotel’s authentic Highland character. Reviewers love the location for exploring the Isle, and many comment that the rooms feel warm and welcoming after a day of travel or concert-going.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the rooms are a bit dated—and while that adds to the charm for some, others might wish for more modern upgrades. Wi-Fi can be spotty, so plan ahead if you’re uploading concert footage.

The Bottom Line

A cozy, historic stay with postcard-worthy views—perfect for concert-goers looking to unwind in true Isle of Skye style.

Very good

Liked: Location, clean
Disliked: Way overpriced for what you get, old hotel. But we needed a place for one night, it was only thing we could find, not very soundproof, people whistling in hall at 6 am. Not a lot of parking spots.

Would not recommend this property

Liked: The view! Beds were comfortable. Reception and dining room staff were polite and friendly
Disliked: We called in before check-in time to book a table for dinner and I was 'greeted' by a surly man who I took to be the Resident Manager who told me without preamble I couldn't book in before 3pm. When I explained I only wanted to book a table he was equally curt and handed my request to a member of staff. The manager ate in the dining room during evening dinner and at breakfast time and not a smile passed his face or a word of warm welcome. I may have been mistaken in his identity but I was not impressed. The food. Paid extra for an evening meal. Main course served up on cold plates and vegetables were barely cooked and luke-warm. One of us had a mandarin cheesecake which cost £7.50 - it looked like something purchased from a cheap supermarket. Mentioned dissatisfaction to staff but no offer of recompense. Breakfast was a free-for-all with not very appetising cooked food. Coffee was good! Shower was within a fixed bath and difficult to get into and out of through lack of space. Toilet paper cheap and not cheerful. Too many residents, not enough staff. The most expensive place we stayed at.

Location is perfect

Liked: Stayed here for two nights, the location is just superb! Right in front of the beach, the view is beyond lovely. The room and furniture were a bit dated but basic facilities were provided. It was not as bad as some reviews have described, at least not for my stay. Breakfast was basic.
Disliked: The bed could be cleaner; it needs some walk to my room, so not very accessible. But it was a very big problem, overall a good value for money.

Would not recommend my stay...

Liked: The location
Disliked: It was dirty, unkempt, curtains hanging off the railings. Curtains didn’t fit the window so couldn’t close them properly. Electricity wires open. Light hanging was falling off the wall.
