Located just 5 miles outside Courtenay, this oceanfront escape offers stunning views of the water and mountains, upscale amenities, and a peaceful atmosphere — a perfect match for travelers looking to unwind after catching a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You're only a 15-minute drive to downtown Courtenay and the Sid Williams Theater, making it easy to slip away from the crowds after the encore. The scenic setting feels far from the noise, ideal for a quieter post-concert retreat. Free parking is a bonus for road-trippers, and the flexible 4:00 PM check-in lets you settle in before heading out for the night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Solo travelers seeking a peaceful base after the show
  • Couples looking to pair live music with a spa weekend
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music fans who prioritize value and views

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Ocean7 Restaurant and AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar serve up fresh West Coast cuisine and seafood all day — including breakfast (great for late risers). While there’s no 24/7 room service, the restaurants are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the relaxed bistro setting makes for an easy nightcap.

Nightlife Options

While the resort is more about relaxation than raving, you’re a short drive from downtown Courtenay’s local pubs and lounges. On-site, the wine bar offers a laid-back atmosphere and a solid list of regional wines and craft cocktails — ideal for a more mellow night.

What People Say

Guests rave about the incredible ocean views, beautifully maintained spa, and the peaceful atmosphere. Many highlight how rejuvenating the Pacific Mist Hydropath steam room is — especially after a high-energy night out. Reviewers also love the friendly staff and clean, spacious rooms with balconies or patios.

Areas for Improvement

The property is a bit removed from town, so you’ll need a car or rideshare to get to and from concert venues. Some guests mentioned that the WiFi can be spotty in certain areas of the resort, so plan accordingly if you're streaming post-show highlights.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking to pair your concert night with ocean views, spa vibes, and a relaxed atmosphere, Kingfisher Pacific Resort & Spa hits all the right notes.

Beautiful views, but the overall...

Liked: The room was exactly as advertised and matched the photos — the view was truly stunning and just as I had hoped for. Waking up to such a serene and beautiful landscape was definitely a highlight of the stay.Another positive was the underground parking, which was a thoughtful touch. It meant we didn’t have to worry about getting into an overheated car on warm days — a small but much-appreciated convenience that added to the overall comfort of the experience. These aspects certainly made parts of the stay enjoyable, though unfortunately, other elements left us disappointed.
Disliked: We recently stayed at Kingfisher and unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the expectations for the price we paid. The suite itself was beautiful, but arriving to a completely sealed room on a 26-degree summer day made it feel like walking into a furnace. While I now realize the lack of air conditioning was noted in the small print, it’s surprising that in 2025, a $450/night room wouldn’t include AC — especially in the summer. Most customers wouldn’t think to double-check that in this day and age.To make things worse, the electric furnace in the room had been left on for reasons we still don’t understand. The thermostat and controller were off, yet heat continued to flow into the space. We didn’t catch this until hours later when the room still wouldn’t cool down. When we called the front desk, we were told the “pilot” needed to be manually switched off by maintenance — but that could only be done after 7 AM.Another surprise: no complimentary water bottles in the room. The two small bottles provided were priced, and when we asked the front desk, we were told to simply get water from the tap. That’s not what you expect at a property of this caliber, especially when compared to other top hotels across Canada.Overall, $450 for the view alone feels hard to justify. Yes, maintenance eventually resolved the furnace issue and brought us an extra fan, but that’s a standard expectation anywhere — not something that should define a premium experience. I’m still left wondering: what exactly does Kingfisher offer that warrants this price point? For us, the value just wasn’t there.
