Barcelona is great - just...
Liked: The staff tried their best - for the most part - and seemed anxious to please.
Disliked: Having noted in advance that the hotel appeared to be in a pedestrianized zone, I had messaged to ask if there was a problem with access for taxis, and I was very clearly assured that there was not. We arrived on the public holiday for St. Jordi, so numerous roads were closed-off and we had to carry our luggage for nine blocks to reach the hotel. Subsequently, although the hotel was usually able to get a taxi within 10 minutes when we wanted to go to a restaurant in another part of town, all of the taxis that we took to return to the hotel refused to go closer than four blocks. The breakfasts were indifferent - probably the worst that we have had, we only kept eating there because it was more convenient than going out.The bar provides free drinks between 6.30 and 7.30 pm - if you can stomach the cheap and nasty red or white wine on offer.

Liked: Convenience of City centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine. evening meals fine.
Disliked: The room was too small Strange to have toilet away from sink and shower. Very little storage space for clothes..

Superb
Disliked: We had to pay an extra 25 EUR for the twin bed, and they've charged some other fees, but it's not a big deal, the hotel is great!:)

Cramped!
Liked: Great location on a quiet street a few blocks off Las Ramblas, midway between the square and cathedral. Very nice staff. Lots of features in a very small space, like a swiss army knife. Kimpton does a free happy hour every evening and the rooms have nice little touches like yoga mats. Cool little rooftop space with a teeny tiny pool.
Disliked: The public spaces and guest rooms are VERY small and cramped. The Lobby can accommodate maybe 20 people comfortably but when packed with 30+ people during happy hour you can barely get through the door. Check in is on a small landing on the second floor and is crowded if more than two people are there at once. The rooms are so small that you literally cannot find a spot on the floor large enough for the yoga mat they provide. The bathroom vanity/sink area is right at the foot of the bed and is too cramped for two people to use at once. We had the superior room and per the floor map ours was average or slightly larger than most other rooms yet still felt cramped and, as a result, uncomfortable. Hyped rooftop space can accommodate 20 people at most, the pool has room for half that many and little deck space to lay out. I am honestly surprised it received 5 stars and assume the lofty rating is based solely on the list of amenities in the abstract rather than how useful (or useless, in this case) those amenities are in this setting.

Disliked: We ordered coffee but she forgot it so we had to tell other waitress to order again. We got coffee while eating. It should served first before we started eating. Iberico gammon was not fresh. It’s hard to get a taxi. It’s far to go to taxi pick up place.
