Pros of this hotel: Young/hip vibe; location; early check-in accommodated. Cons: Hotel billed us at least a week before with no notice or receipt at time of billing. I had to call to make sure the charge was legitimately from them. Then at check in, also with no notice, they placed a hold of $75 for incidentals? Beware if using a debit card. Shower had no door, only a partition covering about half the shower opening. Water splashed all over the floor. Kind of dangerous. No tub. We could hear neighboring room clearly through a door in the common wall. Room was dark. Not luxurious. More stylish than comfortable - would not recommend for families with young kids for above reasons. Staff friendliness was spotty.
Liked: Location is great. Milwaukee's Third Ward.
Disliked: Shower and hotel billing policy.

Would not choose to stay...
Liked: Location was great.
Disliked: Room was dingy and smelled like wet dog. Meger selection of toiletries. No coffee maker. Room was very cold and bed was uncomfortable.

Liked: Tre Rivali was great, provided room service as well. Rooftop Bar seemed very accommodating to us as hotel guests when we needed a table. Toiletries we forgot were readily available. Super close to the Public Market
Disliked: The staff didn?t know anything about the hotel - why it was called Journeyman, why the furniture had numbers and why the dogs. We found a great article in the New York Times that answered it was a tribute to Milwaukee manufacturing businesss and the dogs are something quirky that was chosen by the designer

Liked: The basic design aesthetic of the hotel and the lobby and restaurant spaces
Disliked: I don't know if it was a matter of COVID or not but the room felt empty. There were no small hotel furnishings (not the right word) like corkscrew, no minibar to be tempting (in fact, the small refrigerator did not seem to be working well enough to keep anything cold). The bed linens were adequate but hardly generous. There was a strange penny-pinching vibe compared with hotels in the same price range. The hallways were dark and depressing. Overall, it was a weird place.

Disliked: Small rooms, breakfast food was gross and not healthy and fresh.

It sounds good but it...
Liked: Location. Restaurant food was good. Pizza prepared from counter top oven was very good.
Disliked: I paid premium 5 star rate for the hotel expecting top notch service with high quality atmosphere. In overall it was average quality place that I could pay half or less of other respectable name. False advertisement- I love to play pool so it was one of the reasons I picked this hotel but when we got there, it was all covered up and not letting people to play. No valet service, we have to drive around to find a parking space on the street and carry our luggage from car to hotel. Roof deck was not accessible(one of the other reasons) with an hour waiting list. They pre-charge their guest $75(refundable) for possible damage to the room. It gave me an impression that they do not trust their customers who are willing pay top price to stay there. I never heard of that before. For one night staying, I end up paying $440 total at the front. Few days later, I had my credit card charged twice, $407.36 and $332.36, total of $739.72 for one night staying. I complained and $407.36 was removed following day.
