Jeanne, Anchorage, visiting The Triple Door
The Monaco Hotel is a great getaway spot, but it also serves as a great launch for your Downtown Seattle experience. The hotel is within walking distance to Pike Street Pier fun, and to lot's of shopping choices. We loved the friendly front desk staff, and the atmosphere of the hotel. This hotel has great "extras" - such as bicycle rentals, pet friendly, and an evening happy hour. The only disappointment we had was the Sazerac Restaurant attached to the hotel. We had lunch on Friday and breakfast on Saturday and were extremely disappointed at both meals. The service was marginal and the food was terrible. We won't eat there again until they do a total overhaul. Bottom line is stay at the Hotel Monaco but dine at another restaurant!
Liked: Great hotel staff.
Disliked: Attached restaurant - Sazerac.

Misleading information and overpriced for...
Disliked: Misleading information and overpriced for what you get. We paid $405 per night and the standard is explicitly not better than in other hotels. They lied about the breakfast which, according to Booking.com, was $30 per person. Yet upon arrival they gave us the menu and said that it is "a la carte", which is much more expensive. They also forgot to clean our room, which we noticed when we returned from a long trip in the city. So we had to tell them and wait outside while they cleaned it. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency afterwards, which is better equipped and has significantly better service, in addition to the closer proximity to restaurants and shops. We do not recommend staying at Kimpton Hotel Monaco.

Disappointing...gets good reviews (most earned);...
Liked: Location, helpful staff, large room and bath.
Disliked: Room was large but very austere. Lacked a comfortable chair (e.g. arm chair) to be able to relax and read. Only chair was an uncomfortable desk chair that was replaced by another uncomfortable desk chair. Also the imposed "amenities fee" was petty and a very poor value...for $50 all we got out of it was a wine tasting and a couple of bottles of water. Renovation not complete, but the new "look" is a bit austere and lacked warmth.
