Kimpton is a good choice...
Liked: Everything was lovely about our stay. We chose the hotel for it's location. Staff was helpful. Valet parking is expensive ($62) but you can use the parking lot across the street for about $40 a day. Beds comfortable and we had a view of the bridge. No coffee maker in rooms but complimentary coffee available in the lobby in mornings.
Disliked: Lack of coffee maker in rooms..

Deceitful Practices, Not Up to...
Liked: Spacious room, two staff members, restaurants (both) food was good
Disliked: Being deceived by the website claiming "Premium Room with River View." I chose this hotel because I was planning on splitting my time working in my room doing some work and sight seeing. I especially wanted a nice hotel with a view of the Mississippi and that that was the top of my criteria for choosing this hotel. I did not book other 4 star hotels, that had a better location solely because of the lack of a river view. Upon arriving and being assigned my room (which I paid extra for the view) I was shocked to find there was only a view of the street below the hotel. I immediately returned to the front desk, and assuming it was a mistake, asked them to check my request and assign me a river view room. The front desk employee , who was wonderful and very forthcoming, apologized and stated they did not have any room with a river view and they had discussed the number of complaints to the front desk with management and management made it clear that referring to a river view room generated revenue and they were to just apologize to the guest. Due to the time of the day, early evening, I decided to stay at the hotel rather than search for a last minute alternative. It was bad enough being deceived about the room but the actual room was rather run down and even the bathroom's paint job wasn't finished. Upon returning home to San Diego I wrote a letter to the General Manager, Jessica Malecki, expressing my dissatisfaction and how this is a perfect case for the State's Attorney General's Office. To this day I have not received a response. I also believe this should be a matter for the IHG corporate office, which will be my next letter.
