Will come again sometime.
Liked: Quiet and restful. Loved the decor and helpful staff. Good rate. Nice to have a restaurant available.

Modern style and comfort
Liked: The new decor is very tasteful. Simple modern and spare. Beds were comfortable and access to fresh air from terrace delightful. This is our new favorite hotel for the Japantown area. Nice coffee and tea in a.m. Wine at 5.
Disliked: I wish that there was a second chair in the room. A microwave would have been nice.

Liked: Excellent location, large rooms, clean
Disliked: Poor noise insulation. People were talking in the next room and I heard every word. Once they moved out it was all good. I would recommend the hotel for stays during the low season when you are likely to have no neighbors. As others have pointed out there?s no kettle in the room.

Modern hotel in a great...
Liked: All the staff we spoke with were all very friendly and helpful. The room was a nice size, it was modern and was very clean with nice amenities and the bed was comfortable (not the pillows though). We loved the location as it was just out of the main city area and instead of being surrounded by high rise buildings and heaps of tourists this hotel is surrounded by restaurants (some great Japanese ones given it's in Japantown), cafes and boutique shops and the area was a bit slower paced than being in Union Square which was great. We felt perfectly safe walking around the area at night and for us it was central enough that we could still walk to the painted ladies then out to the marina district, across to fisherman's wharf and around the piers down to pier 9 in one day albeit it was a lot of walking.
Disliked: We booked a King Room with City View and I'm not sure if we got put in a wrong room or not but we didn't really have a "City View". We were put on level 2 which I believe is the lowest level as the restaurant is on Level 1 and our "City View" consisted of a tree right in front of the window with the street/sidewalk beyond that (refer photo attached to this review) which we weren't overly impressed with given this room costs more and this wasn't what was shown on the pictures when we made the booking. Being on level 2 meant we were also directly above the restaurant and could hear every time chairs were dragged across the floor, furniture was moved or a table was talking loudly or laughing etc. Essentially I would recommend asking to be on a higher level when you check in. The pillows were terrible, to the point that neither of us could sleep properly through the night. This is obviously a personal thing but all the pillows in the room were the same so there were no options to use anything different.
