I really enjoyed my stay...

Liked: I made my choice for the Kick Ass Grassmarket hostel for his excellent location, near to the castle as I came to Edinburg to attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, great performance by the way! Very good location for hanging around for the night life as well.At first, I was sceptic sharing a room with mixed genders, but it turned to be alright. I am someone who is a bit fussy, especially about cleanliness and I must say that this place is very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great choices for the breakfast. I strongly recommend Kick Ass Grassmarket to anyone.
Disliked: What I did not like, as nothing to do on how Kick Ass Grassmarket is managed, but it is much more about the lack of consideration of one person in my room. He got a phone call at 4am and he is was very loud, no consideration whatsoever for all of us sleeping.

Nice place, lively not peaceful

Liked: Friendly staff, clean and good location.
Disliked: Night clubbers hostel, noise from doors slamming and people shouting in corridors, kitchen and from passageway outside till after 3am.

Exceptional

Liked: Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff on the reception counter
Disliked: Shower heads in fixed position. Got to keep pumping pressing the button for water

Very good

Liked: I stayed at both Kickass Greyfriars and Grassmarket, and I definitely preferred the location of Grassmarket! It was quieter, more spacious, had hot showers, and I had a direct view of Edinburgh Castle. Customer service was friendly and accommodating.

2nd time here and not...

Liked: The view from my room was *chef kiss*The people were nice
Disliked: That we have to pay more to be just with women but the price was still ok for me

Pleasant

Liked: Good location in central Edinburgh easy to get around city for the hostel
Disliked: The pods need better air conditioning than just some vents. It gets very warm overnight
