Julie, Pacific, visiting Grinders KC

We just spent the night in Kansas City and left the next morning. We did have breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and it was really good.

Liked: I loved the elevators. You just put the floor your room is on in a pad outside the elevator and it tells you what elevator door to get on. You don't even feel like you're on an elevator.
Disliked: No, there was nothing bad about the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.

Cindy, Gaylord

Location was great for the events we were attending and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Disliked: Yes. Restaurant, the Metropolitan, and there was no hot tub.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Aurora, Kansas City

The rooms were tiny! And where are those awesome bathrobes? For $300 a night I at least wanted to take a late night dip in the pool. But it closed at 10. Dumb. $13 for self parking is terrible - it should have been free.

Disliked: Small rooms; no bathrobes; parking is too expensive.

Julie, Manhattan

Was not impressed with the hotel in general. Was not informed of extra charges for internet service and self parking. I have stayed at numerous hotels in the KC area, this was the worst due to the impersonal service and extra fees. I won't be back to this hotel, I just expect more.

Liked: Close to power & light district
Disliked: Very impersonal large hotel, if you want to be treated like a number, not a guest, this is the hotel for you!!!

Great food, staff, & location...

Liked: Location to the convention center, great bar & food, great breakfast buffet, helpful staff.
Disliked: Our room (501) was next to the elevators which seemed convenient until we had to hear them running all night (which sounded like a windstorm outside). Also, the heater would turn on and reach a comfortable setting and then immediately switch to air conditioning and blow freezing air. We were were freezing most of the night and had to wear jackets and sweatpants to bed. Between the sound of the elevator and the chilled air, we didn't get much sleep.

Late room service, internet problems,...

Liked: Well played out nice rooms
Disliked: Dark hallways lighting in rooms rather dim, room service was late didn’t have utensils then got a 2nd meal. Plastic drinking cups, dirty coffee maker and low quality ice bucket felt cheaper than the room

It’s unlikely I’d ever return.

Liked: Restaurant and bar on site
Disliked: Construction - unsightly - across street…that was the view from my room. No parking anywhere on site or even remotely nearby. HAD to pay for valet parking. The distance to my room in a different tower was a very long walk. The elevators were so slow. I ended up walking down 13 flights of stairs after waiting more than 12 minutes. After bar time, there was yelling and banging in the hallway outside my room. I paid a lot of money on my retiree income for a very expensive night of lousy sleep.
