JUFA Hotel Meersburg am Bodensee

Nice easy hotel with good...

Liked: In the middle of center.
Disliked: Bar closed at 21:50 when they said they close at 22:00. Also parking was some 700m from hotel. Okej when it doesn’t rain ..

Comfortable enough (just), youth hostel...

Liked: The staff were really very nice, charming and helpful on the front desk, a delightful housekeeping team and the team in charge of breakfast were the kindest people you could hope to meet - thank you very much. The room was big with windows that opened to manage the heatwave (no AC) and blinds, linens were totally clean. Breakfast was comprehensive and of a high quality (apart from the coffee, which is only from a machine and awful).
Disliked: The price of the room vs the quality of the hotel is absolutely outrageous. The building is tired, clean but smelly in the hallways (smokers' rests on a balcony with doors open to the hall, kitchen fumes) and very, very basic. It is more like a youth hostel or bunkhouse in vibe - the rooms and bathrooms are functional and the beds comfortable enough but there are absolutely no frills. Others in our party stayed in different hotels locally, 3 Stuben is 100m away at <€50/night difference and it is in a completely different stratosphere. Don't be fooled by Google review star ratings - 3 Stuben has 4.7, Jufa 4.5, but they are WORLDS apart. There's nothing I would actively complain about at the Jufa (although the water in the shower was so hot it scalded my wife leaving red welts for half an hour, which is not ideal in a family room designed to accommodate children), but the available alternative boutique hotels are in a totally different league for very little extra money.

Hippies will love it

Liked: The location was very good, BUT the parking was very far away (about a 10-15 minute walk). I guess it's a trade-off. The breakfast was great. Wonderful strong coffee, eggs & bacon, lots of typical cold cuts, cheese, yougt choices... and eating outside in the shaded, cool courtyard was a real treat. Reception staff (a visiting manager while another was on vacation) was very competent & accommodating.
Disliked: The room (on the third floor, 305) had a slanted ceiling & was very small. Mattress was low to the floor and felt more like a "foam" (rather than box spring). There were no bedside tables, rather a kind of shelf next to the bed... overall, this gave the hotel a "hostel" vibe, and, if you like that, stay! The room had one window that opened fully but did not let in ANY breeze or cool air. The whole room was dead air, which made for a very uncomfortable, warm night.

Superb

Liked: Excellent, simple dinner menu. Schweinschnitzel and chips washed down with cold beer. Breakfast really good with an early start as we were off to Italy that day. Cooked bacon, sausage, eggs - cereal to follow, then bread/toast - lots of juice and coffees - perfect start. Parking for 7 euros overnight is only a 5 minute walk and Meersburg was a very pleasant stroll with quaint buildings. Helpful, friendly reception staff with good sense of humour !!

A family friendly hotel in...

Liked: The hotel's location is excellent. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good and service excellent.
Disliked: The mattress on the bed and the pillow were a bit soft for my tastes and need, but were okay for a short stay.

Exceptional

Meersburg with a large group

Liked: Location was great. Right at Meersburg center. We were a large group (3 families, 13 people), and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was really nice with good variety. We loved the Spielzimmer.
Disliked: The hotel is composed of different buildings, very closed together, but it was not clear to us from the description. It was really not a problem for us.

Liked: Great location. We didn't realise there was an amazing medieval festival in the centre on the days we booked.
