Jorvik Hotel

pretty perfect!

Liked: lovely quiet location even though in the city. helpful staff. delightful room, with deep bath. near the river & right opposite the beautiful museum gardens.
Disliked: it wasn’t the sort of hotel with restaurant & bar, but I think I actually liked it all the better for that! great pub just down the road.

Nice hotel, good location but...

Liked: The location near the railway station.
Disliked: I was travelling for work and I had to catch a train at 8.20 am on the day I booked out but unfortunately breakfast was not served until 8.30 am. So my breakfast that day was a stale pain au raison (bought the afternoon before) in my room. I'm sure it is a hotel that mainly caters for people on holiday so maybe a 8.30 am breakfast is OK, but it would help to have that detail on their web site so business travelers do not use it.

Disliked: It wasn’t clean, the staff was lovely and was very accommodating to help us out. I noticed a odour from a stain on the carpet which looked like a previous guest had been sick and it had not been cleaned which is extremely unhygienic. As soon as i went to reception the lady was very helpful and apologetic. She offered if we wanted to stay at their sister hotel ‘the Churchill’ as there was no spare rooms for us to change too. This hotel was absolutely beautiful we got upgraded to one of their suites and could not fault them. Very disappointed in the Yorvik and sadly will not be returning here.

Short comfortable stay

Liked: The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and personal. The room met expectations and was clean, comfortable and spacious. The shower had great water pressure!
Disliked: We were in the lower level room and there were a couple light bulbs that were out, which made it extra dark. We were only there for two nights, so we didn't say anything, but for a longer stay, I would have asked if they could fix them.

Very good

Liked: Quiet location but convenient to town. Room is spacious, bathroom has heating rack for towels.
Disliked: Small wardrobe, had to ask for more hangers. There was a heater but no aircon. A standing fan was provided.
