A wonderful hotel where you...

Liked: The concept of the hotel is wonderful. We felt so much like at home. Very peaceful area of Amsterdam, very safe and short walking to the stress of the city center. The staff of the hotel is extremely nice and attentive and willing to make the stay a pleasant one.The breakfast was with a few things but at very good quality and very tasty. The coffee was wonderful. Always fresh fruits in the lobby area. It is a really pet friendly hotel as you could sit all around even having a breakfast with your pet.We missed this cozy and wonderful place when we went to The Hague. Definitely coming back!
Disliked: The air conditioning in the lobby area was really strong for us.

Beautiful Boutique Stay with a...

Liked: I stayed at the Jan Luyken Hotel and was absolutely charmed by so much of the experience. The building itself is stunning — from the facade to the terrace, every detail feels thoughtfully curated. My room had large windows that opened to the quiet street below, and sitting there each evening listening to the gentle hum of the neighborhood was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The bed was heavenly — one of the most comfortable I’ve experienced in a hotel — and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which was much appreciated. I loved the free unlimited beverages and snacks available all day, and breakfast in the morning was excellent. The neighborhood is unbeatable, with so much within walking distance, and the staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help. I also appreciated the quality Codage Paris bath products in the bathroom, which felt like a thoughtful luxury touch.
Disliked: That said, there are a few things to be aware of. While the building does have an elevator, you still need to climb a short flight of stairs to reach your room — tricky when carrying heavy bags. I didn't realize I was booking the "cozy" room through Booking.com, which was smaller than expected, and the shower was situated directly above the toilet, which may not be for everyone. There’s no outlet in the bathroom, making it difficult to use styling tools in front of a mirror. Only one very small trash bin is provided in the room, which wasn’t quite enough, and some corners could have been cleaner.Overall, this is a gorgeous, well-located boutique hotel with wonderful staff and thoughtful amenities — just make sure to check the room type before booking, and be prepared for a few quirks in the layout.

Great property and staff!

Liked: Location is great. We like to walk so 15-20 mins to center was great to explore. This is a very nice townhouse with great service and nice breakfast and some light bites for happy hour. We loved it. Had a medium room which was great and has a pull out couch or bed on request if you are traveling with a minor.
Disliked: It could use a little makeover. Paint Jon is much needed in hallways and rooms. Carpet looks worn out. Otherwise rooms are spotless with nice decor and beds were really comfy. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends

Great location

Liked: I loved the homely feel of the common areas. Complimentary afternoon snacks were lovely. Bed was so comfy I slept peacefully every night. I could walk to the museums and the tram stop nearby was good for anything further away than a few blocks.

Worst experience i have ever...

Disliked: We couldn't find anyone there the evening we arrived to check in. Our room cards were sitting at the reception desk in a very unsafe state. We took them and went up to our room. We were woken up in the early hours of the morning by hotel staff in an extremely rude manner. She demanded to know how we got into the room and made us feel very uncomfortable. The woman working the day shift on August 1, 2025, was the rudest person I've ever seen. No information was given about the hotel. No cleaning came into our room. Never again !
