Rest Easy After the Show at Sleep Inn & Suites

Modern and comfortable, Sleep Inn & Suites in Newport News is a fully renovated hotel designed for relaxation. With its location just off I-64 and near the scenic James River, this Designed to Dream® property strikes a balance between peaceful ambiance and easy access to local hotspots. Spacious rooms with microwaves, mini-fridges, and fresh furnishings make it a great home base whether you’re catching a show or exploring the nearby historic sites.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just a short drive from key Newport News music venues, the hotel’s location makes it simple to get to and from your concert without stress. Free Wi-Fi and a quiet atmosphere mean you can wind down after the show, and with check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, there’s flexibility for late-night arrivals or lazy mornings. The nearby Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport makes arriving and departing a breeze, especially for those flying in for a big event.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for an affordable base
Solo travelers heading to a must-see performance
Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
Fans who want a quiet spot to recover post-show
Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to sacrifice comfort

Food and Drink Options

Start your day (or recover from your night) with a free hot breakfast. While the hotel doesn't have a restaurant or bar on-site, you’re just a 15-minute walk from Tech Center Oyster Point, where you’ll find popular dining spots like P.F. Chang’s and other local eateries perfect for a pre-show meal or late-night bite.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about winding down than turning up, nearby nightlife is easy to access by car or rideshare. The area around Oyster Point features bars and lounges where you can keep the energy going after the encore. If you prefer a more laid-back post-show drink, there are plenty of chill spots close by.

What People Say

Guests love the clean, modern rooms and say it's a great value for the price. Many reviews highlight the convenient location, friendly staff, and the comfort of the recently updated furnishings. The indoor pool and fitness center also get a nod for being well-maintained and relaxing after a long day.

Areas for Improvement

While the hotel is near several concert venues, it’s not walkable to most—that said, quick drives or rideshares make up for it. Also, there’s no on-site bar, which might disappoint those hoping for a nightcap without leaving the building.

The Bottom Line

Sleep Inn & Suites is a quiet, budget-friendly choice for concert-goers who want a clean, comfortable place to recharge between shows and adventures.

Walmart nearby.
Disliked: The t.v is cable only. no option to stream or log into your own streaming show apps. The bed was a rock. But again this is a price over comfort ordeal.Oh breakfast forget it . Waffles apples, yogurt. They run out quickly too.Only one comforter for a family of 4

Very good

Liked: After reading the reviews, I was mortified to even step foot in this place, but I had already paid for my stay in full and wasn't able to cancel. Being OCD as I am, I went and bought towels, sheets, and cleaning supplies. Went to the hotel and checked in.... only to find that my only complaint would be that my room smells badly of cig smoke. I believe it was just the room we got because other family members' rooms were fine. Yes the hotel has some issues but nothing like the past reviews state. I will stay at this location again if I return to this part of the state again.
Disliked: The management needs to invest in new sheets, towels, and pool towels. The laundry needs to be a bit more picky with cleaning rooms thoroughly and cleaning/bleaching linens. Drains in showers to be cleared, and hot water needs some attention. Overall, I was very impressed with the location considering past reviews.

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Couldn't check in until about 4 o'clock, staff was rude, didn't have towels for pool until asked. Staff had a attitude and rude worst experience with my kids will not be coming back plus had to pay extra last minute with arriving on time but check in was the time it said it was. Couldn't get no extra nothing WORST EXPERIENCE!

Rate was inexpensive so I...

Liked: The room was clean and the desk clerk who checked us in was fairly friendly as we arrived at 4AM only to leave the next day at 9AM due to delays in our travel. We only stayed for one night as a stop on our travel from Canada to the outer banks.
Disliked: The humidity in the hotel was unbearable. My daughter slept on the pull out couch and no blankets were initially available in the room but were provided by the desk clerk. Unfortunately, they were wet due to the humidity. The floor in our room was also wet. The AC unit was on but made a squealing noise all night and we had no choice to keep it on due to the hot and humid conditions. Even after a shower in the morning we all still felt sweaty and ‘gross’. Not sure how they adress that but maybe with better air circulation/ventilation. We missed breakfast as it ended at 9AM (not the hotel’s fault but ours as we arrived so late).
