Modern convenience meets affordable comfort at the Island Travel Inn, a no-frills hotel located just off the Trans-Canada Highway in downtown Victoria. With simple, wood-furnished rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a central location only minutes from the Inner Harbour and city attractions, it’s an easy choice for concert-goers looking for accessibility and value.
Each room includes a coffee maker, cable TV, and a work desk, perfect for quick pre-show prep or post-show wind down.

Why Concert-goers love it

Whether you're catching a show at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre or enjoying a night of music near the Inner Harbour, Island Travel Inn puts you in a convenient spot—just a 5-minute drive from most downtown venues. Its 24-hour front desk is perfect for late-night check-ins, and the location near major roads makes grabbing a cab or rideshare after a show easy. Plus, the area stays relatively quiet at night despite being central, offering a solid chance to rest up after the encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends needing a central, affordable crash pad
  • Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage
  • Couples making a weekend of it in Victoria
  • Fans wanting a quieter space to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who care more about location than luxury

Food and Drink Options

This hotel is more about location than luxury, so while there's no on-site restaurant, you’re steps from downtown eateries open late. Grab quick bites at nearby diners or pubs before or after the show. Each room includes a coffee maker, and there are vending machines for snacks. Breakfast options are walkable, perfect for a slow start the morning after.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no bar on-site, the hotel’s location puts you within walking distance of downtown Victoria’s pubs, lounges, and live music spots. Whether you're into craft brews or low-key post-show drinks, you’ll find a spot nearby to keep the night going.

What People Say

Guests consistently mention the excellent location, especially for those attending events or hopping on the ferry. Reviewers appreciate the affordable rates and the friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are described as simple but clean—ideal for short stays when convenience is key.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t the place for luxury seekers. Some guests note that the rooms and furnishings could use a refresh, and there’s no elevator, so pack light if you’re on an upper floor. Still, for the price and location, most agree it’s a solid value.

The Bottom Line

If you're catching a show and just need a clean, comfy place to crash nearby, Island Travel Inn delivers unbeatable convenience on a budget.

Walkable to lots of sites...

Liked: It’s very walkable to lots of places downtown. There is under ground parking that was also great. The place is old and could use some improvements…. Like a new tub/shower. The place is fine for one night. It’s cheap (as cheap as you will find in Victoria) and downtown. We don’t really have any complaints but it’s definitely a 6/10. We have stayed at worse. It had A/C and was decently quiet.
Disliked: Bath tub was pretty gross with mold spots on the curtains. Everything else was fine.

Health hazard

Liked: Wasn't much to like, maybe locatiom and the secure parking.
Disliked: First we got a room at ground floor. It smelled peculiar, kind of musky, pungent. Didn't think about it and went out. After returning later I started coughing and felt my breathing get heavier and started almost gasping for air. I can't sleep here! It must be milldew in the room/construction because I'm sensitive to it. Luckily I had allergy medicine which helped a bit so I didn't need to go to hospital. The thing is, whole of Victoria was fully booked, except The Fairmont which is way out of our priceleague. We complained at front desk at midnight and luckily they had a cancellation on 2nd floor so we could change rooms. That room was somewhat better... but not good. Not sufficiently cleaned, worn bedlinnen and broken furniture, heater and more. We had to endure the night. There is no ventilation in the room and you need to keep balcony door open to get air.Next morning we checked out, despite reservations for yet another night. We haven't still got a refund nor the 100 CAD deposit and they seem reluctant to comply and it's "complicated", but we hope to get one.Hotel looks good in pictures and lobby is ok, but everything else... not at all. You can find much better places for about the same money. This hotell is a health hazard.

bad experience

Liked: On the evening of July 1st, one of our rooms experienced a power failure. I immediately tried to contact the front desk, but no one answered my first call. Thankfully, after trying again, someone finally responded — but only after some time. This situation was especially concerning because my young son had already started bathing when the power went out. After I reported the issue, it took almost one hour for the staff to respond and offer a room change. I had to pack up all our luggage and move to another room on a different floor, separating us from the rest of our family who were staying on the 2nd floor. This new room was not cleaned properly — I even found a dirty pair of pants inside the cabinet, which was extremely unhygienic and disturbing. In addition, the sliding door in the new room would not close properly. Once again, I called the front desk for help and got no response. I had to go downstairs myself to ask for assistance. A staff member came to the room and struggled for a long time before managing to close the door — after which we were unable to open it again.Because of all this, our evening was ruined. We had planned to take our family to see the fireworks that night, but due to the delay and stress caused by these issues, we missed the event entirely. To make matters worse, my son became sick the next day. I was unable to dry his hair on time because of all the delays and disruptions, which I believe contributed to his illness. We had booked two rooms and expected a comfortable and enjoyable stay, but this experience was far from acceptable. The service was extremely poor, and the handling of the situation was disappointing. I am writing to request that management look into this matter seriously and offer a proper resolution —
Disliked: old property , no clean
