Hotel Description
Once visited by Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI parts of Irton Hall date back to the 14th century. It retains traditional timber framing and other charming features but offers modern amenities like free Wi-Fi. There are traditionally furnished rooms in the 14th-century tower the converted ballroom and separate self-catering apartments. All have a flat-screen TV iPod dock tea/coffee and a spacious modern bathroom. Irton Hall has as on-site bar lounge and restaurant offering locally sourced produce and local ales and a range of beverages. Hearty full English breakfasts are served in the lounge bar with a selection of lighter continental options also available. The hall is set at the foothills of the western fells of the Lake District between Wasdale and Eskdale. It is a 10-minute drive from the Ravenglass Miniature Steam Railway and Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary.

Great location shame about the...

Liked: Great location
Disliked: The cottage we stayed in was very tired and needed a refresh. The curtains were white in the bedrooms so didn’t block out the light at all.

Fantastic property in the grounds...

Liked: We used the property as a place to bed down during our 3 peaks challenge. The key was left for us in reception and the property is very well equipped. Wasdale car park is a short 28 min drive away.
Disliked: Nothing

Very good

Liked: Room was a little tired looking but was clean and well equipped. Nice and quiet, excellent bathroom. Staff were all great, especially Milo the cat. Loved the free range poultry in the grounds
Disliked: Bed was a bit hard/lumpy

Would stay again breakfast was...

Liked: Hotel and surroundings where great, loved all the animals wondering around, easy to find and Ideal for going to different places 😀
Disliked: Didn't like that there weren't any staff when we arrived and that the restaurant was closed
