Amazing hostel!

Liked: This is a very nice hostel and I've seen many to this date. It's always clean and they have a big kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and one shared bathroom and never had to wait to take a shower. They even fed us one night with pasta and they have pancakes and eggs for breakfast. People and staff are very nice. This was a hostel that I could trust leaving my stuff unlocked in the room to be honest. The beds are good and with the curtain, lamp and extra compartment give you more privacy.
Disliked: Nothing really! There's no air conditioning so it can get hot in the room. I think more mirrors in the women's room would be great and a table. The room was a little small but never was an issue.

Good

Liked: Location excellent
Disliked: No internet. I asked somebody and6 it and gave directives I did that and didn't work, later on I asked somebody else and said "it will look into it"! Time went by and I could hear her in the kitchen and didn't get back so later on I asked again and that it couldn't do anything and I told her to call the manager and she finally did. Here are two lines one guess and the other one stuff the stuff work fine the other not. So I asked to conect to stuff and I was denied so finale she agreed. Does all of this was necessary?

Superb

Liked: Location and value of this place are hard to beat. Check in went smoothly and the hosts were all super helpful. Breakfast was cook it yourself with eggs and waffle batter provided along with coffee and tea. Kitchen was great and had everything you needed.
Disliked: This power/light didn't work on my bunk, but not a huge deal. Bathrooms not super clean, but kind of tough to keep up with that with many people coming and going.

This place made my first...

Liked: It was my first time in SD and was on a solo trip so I just booked the most convenient and cheapest one possible. I arrived so early but Steve, he was so nice and deserves a raise!!, allowed me to leave my bag to explore the city. The place gave more than my expectations. Steve showed me around the property, gave tips on activities I can do and is so welcoming. they even have a hosted event everyday where all travelers can hang out and meet in the common area. The bed was so comfortable and is huge for a single person. the curtains gave privacy to everyone. Youll also have a small space in the bed where you can keep your private belongings. The gentlemen whom I met in the front desk (Steve and another one) were so friendly, they always smile and even use first name to the guests (which I would say, as a person who works in the hospitality industry) is a plus, five star experience for its price. The make your own pancake breakfast and eggs were also very good. I would say, this property is really a good one. You'll enjoy it so much plus its walking distance to all landmarks downtown and it is also near public transportations that makes your vacation more convenient. They would even let you leave your things at the storage to explore the city more upon check out or even stay at common area while you wait for your flight/train to depart. Its the best deal you'll have given its location. The place is great but the customer service is top notch! Would love to stay here again next time ✨
Disliked: There was no AC in the room I was assigned to and thought the one I booked has AC but turned out it was like a centralized AC. the place is well ventilated though and travelers often leave the huge windows open during the day. It even gets colder at night so they close the windows at night (they provide comforter and blanket too). I just got confused at first I guess but AC isn't really necessary.

I appreciate the staff, but...

Liked: Location is excellent. Staff were available and willing to help. The two staff that I had to ask for cleanliness issues both were willing to help as soon as they could.
Disliked: Unfortunately my room (I had a private) was dirty at checkin, despite the bed being made and curtains drawn. The floors look like they haven't been cleaned in months, the sheets had stains and hair. The garbage hadn't been emptied and the fan on the wall was filthy. There were only 4 (maybe 5?) working toilets at the time that I stayed, so during busy times, there was a wait for a free toilet. Less importantly - Wifi was spotty, so hard if you have any videocalls to do. The breakfast area is quite small for the number of guests, so in the mornings there isn't enough space for everyone to get in there and get food and coffee unless you have the time to wait nearby and stagger. They also rely on people to refill water tanks and wash dishes, which sometimes people either don't do well or at all. The whatsapp link you get through Booking is an old spam group which they should really update or just remove from their Booking auto-email. Given the price, I'd probably pay a little more for a private room with an A/C unit and private bathroom in a nearby hotel next time.
