Liked: Great location, great staff
Disliked: Very dated and worn. My credit card was accepted but my wife was not allowed access to the room until I provided a email as her surname was not the same as mine. Why would you accept a credit card with my name on it and not let the person in the room. Very concerning that you would accept the card from someone not authorised.

Worst experience at Intercontinental Melbourne...

Liked: It's located in a beautiful heritage building. We liked the overall architecture and design.
Disliked: On the last night of our stay, my wife was taking a shower and halfway through and the water supply was cut. A call to front desk was met with "There's nothing we can do about it due to construction works and would you like free breakfast tomorrow?". After a long day out, my daughter and I were looking forward to our hot showers and you can imagine our frustration. We had to suggest changing rooms or getting us to a sister hotel property/gym for showering and eventually after a few hours, they sent us to Crowne Plaza to take a bath. The hotel knew about the construction works and that water supply would be affected but chose to do nothing to inform the guests. Apparently we are just supposed to suck it up and accept the free breakfast. There was zero empathy and staff were defensive during the entire incident. My daughter and I also ended up waiting at Crowne Plaza for half an hour after taking our baths because InterCon messed up the return transport as well. We ended back in our rooms well past midnight and that affected the rest of the trip the next day. To be fair, the hotel waived the accommodation fee for the last night. However, I don't think I will ever set foot on this hotel again. Other than the architecture, the room design was also dated. Customer service is poor. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Liked: Location and historical building
Disliked: The room wasn’t cleaned properly and the pool and spa was closed for the entirety of our stay. This wasn’t disclosed at the time of booking. A pool and spa was a key reason we had chosen to stay there. The restaurant advertises being open till 10pm but when seeking a meal at 9.10pm on a Thursday we were told the kitchen was closed. Not a good experience for a weary traveller.
