The Spotlight on Inn at Northrup Station

Colorful Comfort in the Heart of Portland’s Arts District

Modern, retro-inspired, and full of personality, the Inn at Northrup Station is a boutique-style hotel in Portland’s vibrant Northwest district. Just a short ride from the Pearl District and a smooth hop to Portland’s top music venues, this hotel blends bold design with laid-back charm. With spacious suites, friendly staff, and thoughtful extras like free Portland Streetcar passes, it’s a fun and functional home base for music lovers exploring the city.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key, and this hotel checks all the boxes. Just 1.6 miles from major venues like the Moda Center and Memorial Coliseum, it’s easy to get to your show and back again. Even better, the Inn offers free streetcar passes, so you can zip around without worrying about parking or post-show Ubers. Rooms are surprisingly quiet for being in a lively neighborhood, and the flexible 12:00 PM checkout means you can sleep in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends – roomy suites with lounge areas make pre-show hangouts easy
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream gig will love the friendly vibe and safe neighborhood
  • Couples can turn a concert into a relaxing weekend getaway
  • Fans needing a quiet place to recover will enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and comfy beds
  • Budget-conscious music lovers – free parking and Wi-Fi help stretch your dollars

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each suite comes with a coffee machine and kitchenette, perfect for quick bites before or after the show. The area is packed with walkable eateries, from late-night taco joints to tasty brunch cafes. Guests rave about the free continental breakfast, which runs late enough to suit your post-concert schedule.

Nightlife Options

Northwest Portland is full of quirky bars, craft breweries, and cocktail lounges, all within strolling distance. Want to keep the music going? The Pearl District’s buzzing nightlife is just a few minutes away by streetcar. While the hotel doesn’t host live music, its location puts you right in the mix of Portland’s after-dark scene.

What People Say

Guests love the Inn’s colorful decor, huge rooms, and friendly staff. It’s often described as “refreshingly different” and “super convenient for getting around.” The free parking and streetcar access are major perks, and many reviewers mention how quiet it is despite being in a lively area.

Areas for Improvement

If you’re looking for a full-service hotel with a bar and restaurant on-site, this might not be your ideal fit. Some guests note that the hotel’s style is more funky than luxurious—but that’s part of the charm. Breakfast is basic, but it’s free and convenient.

The Bottom Line

This is a fun, well-located, and affordable stay for concert-goers who want style without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

Great hotel and location

Liked: Convenient location, easy access to public transportation, easy and safe parking. The beds very very comfortable, and the kitchen was well-appointed. The room balcony was lovely, and the rooftop balcony provided amazing views. The free streetcar tickets were a wonderful touch, as was the saltwater taffy. We will gladly return.
Disliked: The breakfast selection (mostly bread) could have been better.

Great choice for Portland

Liked: The decor was cute and kitschy. The bed was incredibly comfortable as was the loveseat in the living space. Usually hotel furniture is not the greatest to relax in but this was perfect for watching tv in the evenings. Breakfast had more fruit options than the standard banana/apple/orange- kiwi and whole pears were a nice surprise! Candy available in the common area and coffee station was a nice touch. Parking was super easy.
Disliked: In our kitchenette the glasses and some of the plates/bowls and paper towels were so high up in the cupboard we could not reach and neither of us are particularly short (5’ 6” and 6’ 0”). You should have a short step stool if you are having things up that high . Also a paper towel holder in the countertop would be nice as we had to hunt for them.

Quirky but Classy

Liked: The decor was quirky 70's era but also classy. The staff was extremely helpful and the layout of the room was great. The location next to Good Sam hospital was perfect for me. If you can afford it, great place for an extended stay. I plan on staying there again due to the close location to my work.
Disliked: A hot breakfast would have been nice. They had a great selction of fruit and other items though.
