Stinks of cigarette smoke and...
Liked: Location - my husband is a terminal cancer patient and we traveled from Republic of Ireland to attend the Royal Marsden.The location was perfect.
Disliked: Very snooty (male) attendant checking us inNo sign for RECEPTION so when you walk in it feels like a shared hot desk situation, and the receptionist did NOTgreet us or wave us over - so you walk in to a lobby that has comfy seats and a Britta water fountain and a dude way off in the far left corner not making eye contact, smiling or greeting us for ages - on one of the hottest days of the year. DO BETTER! Traveling with my husband (71 yrs old terminal cancer in bones). I had asked in advance (upon booking) to have 4 extra pillows in the room to help ease his discomfort. On Thursday upon check in the very rude receptionist phoned Room Service while we stood there and asked if the pillows had been put into the room, only for us to be told that there were NO EXTRA PILLOWS. We were exhausted and very hot from traveling from Galway, Ireland so just went to the room. The beds each had one pillow, so I went out into the hall to see if I could find a room attendant to ask for more, and We eventually got TWO extra pillows (from a guest in a room on our floor!). When exiting the lift on 3rd floor (despite asking to be located in a room beside the LIFT because my husband has limited mobility, the long corridor walk to Room 311 stank to the high heavens of cigarette smoke and the carpet was absolutely filthy dirty. Relieved to find our room and avoid the stench of hallway, we were greeted with an even WORSE bad sewer smell. We quickly washed up and I let them know the sink in bathroom was back up/stopped up and every time we flushed the toilet the sink water level increased. This blocked sink issue was rectified on Friday while we were at the hospital but the SMELL was still there and quite awful. We made them aware and they offered to move us into a new room on Friday late afternoon but as my husband is very sick, I could not muster the energy to move his tired bones again. No water or water glasses in the room? Ok but maybe tell us upon check in so we can purchase?
