Liked: Room was fine and clean and all staff were great and friendly.
Disliked: Food in restaurant was a little disappointing for the price. Breakfast had a great selection, but the sausage wasn't very good and the scrambled eggs were poor.

Exceptional

Convenient location, but nothing else...

Liked: Proximity to the Royal Mile.
Disliked: We essentially had one functional electrical outlet for the whole room. Very spartan place, much more like a dormitory and a factory than a hotel. You would need a map to find a room that was in an adjacent building. With the exception of one incredibly kind, young woman, the staff were curt and not terribly helpful. In their defense, I think they were overwhelmed and probably understaffed. It is actually a huge property and it’s very impersonal in terms of service and the physical place itself. Having said all that, if it were priced at a budget level, I would’ve been satisfied, but we were charged an exorbitant amount of money for what we thought would be a nice hotel. We were disillusioned.

Disliked: The only issues I had was no heating in the bedroom and also that I couldn’t open a window which felt a bit claustrophobic

Fair value for money

Liked: Great central location. Was worried it would be noisy, but secondary glazing worked brilliantly. Room 760 was great with high ceilings and huge windows with a view. All clean and a decent enough breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly staff too.
Disliked: Wasn't sure what to expect when arriving in the lobby, all seemed a bit messy and chaotic but improved as soon as we had checked in. Would have liked a mirror above the dressing table/desk but that's a minor point.

Great location, good place to...

Liked: Location was perfect, the room quite spacious. Breakfast is great.
Disliked: The room was too cold, heating system doesn't warm up properly so we had to ask for an additional small heater. The bed is not very comfortable and the toilet is way too small.
