Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full-service restaurant open round the clock, there are lots of casual eateries and pubs within walking distance. Breakfast is available, perfect for those who need a bit more time to get going after a gig.

Nightlife Options

You're just minutes from the heart of Belfast’s nightlife scene, with local pubs, live music bars, and late-night lounges nearby. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live entertainment, its proximity to both traditional Irish pubs and trendier venues makes it easy to keep the night going.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the friendly service, excellent location, and clean, comfortable rooms. Many note that it’s a great value for money and ideal for short city stays. Reviewers also appreciate the quiet surroundings despite being close to the action.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel is a bit basic in style—think functional over fancy. A few noted that parking can be tight, and the in-room facilities are simple (but clean and well-maintained).

Gemma, Dublin, visiting Mandela Hall Belfast

Generally quite nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice.

Liked: Very close to the city and Mandela Hall, where I was attending a concert. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Uncomfortable pillows. A gap above the door made it noisy.

Convenient for the university and...

Liked: The hotel was very well placed for visiting Queen's University for an open day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was handy being able to eat in the cafe on the ground floor. The room was fine - a bit basic, but then that's the Ibis brand, and good value for money.

Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was kept clean. The cooked breakfast was delicious. It was approximately a 30 minute walk to the city centre.
Disliked: The rooms are not soundproof, and it was very noisy in the corridors throughout the night.

Comfy beds and excellent location.

Liked: The bed was very comfortable, the hotel was clean and staff are friendly. The location is fantastic, really close to Botanic train station and the university area. It was quiet and we got a good sleep each night. The bar area is nice and the breakfast was good.
Disliked: The room was lacking a few facilities eg a safe for belongings and a small fridge to keep water cold. The bathroom was quite small and the bathroom door is loud when opening. There was a fairly regular humming noise which lasted a second every few minutes which, which was unexplained and didn’t think was linked to the air con. We did mention it to the friendly reception team who apologised and said they’d look into it.
