Good rooms / tired facilities...

Perfect location for a trip...

Liked: Perfect location overlooking the sea. An amazing view. Bed was extremely comfortable.
Disliked: We were unable to have a cafeteria of decaffeinated coffee for breakfast and was charged extra for single cup

Disappointing for the high price...

Liked: There was plenty of parkingThe location on the sea front was greatThe view from the room was lovely if you ignored the air conditioning units belowThere was a spa and pool available but I did not use them
Disliked: This hotel is past its former glory. It needs a complete makeover - the lobby is dark and unappealing, the dining room old fashioned and the sitting out area with fake grass and plastic tables is below what was expected. The bedroom was fine and the beds comfortable but I would expect more for £300 per night - tissues, more toilet roll and a non slip bath mat for starters. It was not luxurious. The room smelt faintly of drains. The staff were mainly OK but the breakfast servers were not well trained. Breakfast itself was poor. I have had better at a Premier Inn. The food was not good quality, the scrambled eggs on the buffet were inedible. We got fried eggs freshly made which were fine but they were presented on a tiny plate and plonked unceremoniously on the table. The food was not generous - pastries ran out, there was only one tea and coffee machine for everyone and so long queues. I am well traveled and had high hopes of this hotel but was very disappointed. Poor value for money and I would never return.

No heart, no warmth, no...

Liked: Location was ok.
Disliked: The decor! Totally lacking any style or inspiration - a symphony of grey and black - not a single painting or decorative feature in the entire edifice! It seems as if the whole decoration budget was spent on a very pretentious chandelier on the “Grand Staircase”!The breakfast! The Kitchen literally could not produce a poached egg on toast! The Breakfast Room was a mess, the offerings minimal and motel standard. The Bar - like a station waiting room with scaring lighting and young untrained staff and no supplies - they didn’t know how to make a Gin Martini nor had they sufficient stocks to meet our order. However, the staff, with notable exceptions, were “willing” if untrained - the style of the place, from general lack of any real welcome to the total absence of any effort to provide customer comfort let alone a pleasurable experience, is totally down to a failure of management. We heard mention that the place might have changed hands comparatively recently - perhaps that’s an explanation but not an excuse for a fairly bleak experience.
