Quirky hotel, with a hostel...
Liked: The Hygge is in a relatively quiet part of Brussels, and about a 25 min walk from Brussels Midi station. We liked the quirky independant nature of the hotel, and the staff were super helpful. We arrived early in the morning, but they were happy to look after our luggage until the 3 o'clock check-in, so we could do some exploring.
Disliked: The hotel had been converted from either an office or residential property, and sadly the interior designers/architect didn’t do a great job. The room layout had several minor flaws which sort of stacked up and became annoying after a few days. For instance the room keycard scanner was on the opposite wall side of the door, the hinge side, not as you walk-in. The switch to turn the bathroom light on was again on the hinged side of the door. So you were constantly opening and closing doors. The bathroom had nowhere to put your wash bags or hang anything, just a sink. The same for shower, although really good, there was nowhere to place your shampoo or soap. They do provide their own dispenser, but as my wife suffers from eczema, she has to use a particular type. At risk of going full Victor Meldrew, the toilet roll holders, there were two, were both vertical. I can understand the one to store a spare roll, but why have them both vertical…maybe it’s a Belgian thing! Made it tricky pulling out a strip to do ones thing. My wife also pointed out there was no full length mirror, just the one above the bathroom sink. Personally that didn't effect me, as my preening days are well and truely over. The other thing, again this may be a Belgian thing, but the towels were very thin, more like a dish cloth. Also, I’m always amazed why hotels charge so much for a basic breakfast. Especially when there was a brilliant cafe literally 20 metres from the front door, offering the same thing for half the price??So overall, a clean, well run hotel which made it an enjoyable break, with a few niggles but nothing too painful. The other slight thing was the conversion looked like it was done on the cheap, giving it a hostel feel to it, rather than a £140 a night hotel.

Nice and Cozy
Liked: The hotel was very nice and well decorated. The location was close enough to the the main streets, with several restaurants and shops. You can walk to the city center.
Disliked: The bathroom had a glass door without any proper lock! The breakfast could have more options.

Stylish hotel in the city...
Liked: Very stylish hotel in a city center. The breakfast was super tasty, stuff friendly. Everything was clean and tidy, only nice emotions are present!
Disliked: It could be nice to have robes and slippers in the room. Also the room really needs little fridge
