Better Than Most 4-Star Hotels
Liked: I had just arrived here from a 4-star Kimpton hotel. I didn't expect to check-in to this hotel, as I am from the area and was there to visit family. I was coming down with a small cold, so I had to find a place to stay other than my sister's place, as she has small kids. I also didn't want to drive all the way out to the city, as we were throwing my father a birthday party at the nearby StoneHaus.
I had been traveling for 2 weeks and spent so, so much money. I would've loved to spring for the Westlake Inn or Four Seasons, but my wallet was already crying. So I booked this hotel and hoped for the best.
Man, I was so impressed and delighted! Self parking is easy, the hotel lobby is beautiful, filled with orchids, lofty ceilings, a cafe, and friendly staff. My room was spacious, clean, and well-stocked with amenities. The room has a coffee maker with coffee/tea, refrigerator, free Wifi, convenient outlets, large tub and bathroom, big comfortable bed, lots of tv channels, room service.
It was better and easier than any of the 4-star hotels I stayed in throughout my trip, which offer WiFi for $4,000/day, don't offer room service or make you pay for a morning coffee. I was so pleased to finally be somewhere that made everything feel so easy, simple, and complimentary. I only spotted the pool briefly, but it looked pretty nice! Apparently they also offer spa services, which I was surprised by!
Disliked: The decor is a bit outdated, but still felt clean and fresh. There was some freeway noise I could hear, but it was more of a white noise type of sound, so it didn't bother me.

Liked: Comfy bed
Disliked: Late check in at 4:00. Way too late. For almost ---- a night the bottled water was 3.00$. Really??

It never happened. They slammed...
Liked: We checked in at 4:20 pm and they ran our credit card. We were told that our room was not ready. When we returned at 8 pm, we were told that we had no room. When we said we had already checked in, the desk clerk denied that we had done so. We asked to have our credit card authorization canceled, they denied that it was necessary and refused to do anything. We declined the alternate reservation they had made at some motel in Thousand Oaks which might have been a flea bag and told them that we would take care of ourselves, which we did.
The next morning, Bank of America called us to tell us there was suspicious activity on our credit card. Sure enough, Hyatt Westlake had sent a charge for $438 through for the room we never occupied. I then called Hyatt Westlake and their manager told me that the card had been authorized, but that no charge had been sent to the bank. We are working on this and will sue in Small Claims Court if we need to.
The Hyatt Westlake was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. My wife and I are in our 80?s and have traveled the world, including many Third World countries without ever encountering such cavalier skullduggery.
Disliked: Everything. See above.

I will come back for...
Liked: Staff were excellent. My daughter left her wallet in the room when we checked out and we were contacted later and retrieved it. Needless to say that everything was intact! By the way, question of whom did you travel with did not give me the option to say that I travelled with my two children over 18.
Disliked: cannot think of it.
