Disliked: My recent stay at the Clyde Hotel in Albuquerque, booked (and pre-paid) through Booking.com, left much to be desired. Upon check-in, I was informed by the front desk attendant that only $50 would be charged for incidentals, but to my surprise, the entire reservation amount was charged along with the incidental fee. It was only after checking my Amex app that I caught this error, which could have resulted in a double charge for my one-night stay.In an attempt to rectify the situation, the Director of Guest Experience offered either a room upgrade or dinner as compensation. Initially hesitant to accept, as I didn't want to seem like taking advantage of their mistake, we eventually opted for in-room dining (realizing it’s not coming out of anyone’s paycheck). We got a text after choosing the in-room dining option saying “Sounds good! Have a great night. I've let our attendant know to take care of your meals.” However, what arrived after an hour of anticipation was a mere assortment of cheese, crackers, and a few slices of meat, hardly being an appetizer to two guys, but I thought the attendant will take the order when he drops off the not-even an appetizer. When we asked him about the dinner he said that the restaurant is closed. Even more furious now, because they could’ve told us that we would get an appetizer, and not dinner, because after an hour of waiting for it, we had to order dinner on uber and wait an additional hour for it to come, keep in mind that we drove from Nashville and we were tired and hungry.Upon further inspection of the room, the disappointment continued as I discovered a bunch long strands of hair in the bathtub and an unclean underside of the toilet seat. It was disheartening to encounter such lackluster cleanliness standards, especially in a supposed 4-star establishment. Despite our reluctance, I had to clean the toilet seat myself, as it was too unpleasant to ignore.
