Hyatt Place Des Moines Downtown

Great place to stay. Comfortable. Spacious. Parking. Clean. Full breakfast.

Good

Liked: Location and breakfast were both very good. Front desk and lobby facilities including food/drink options were convenient. Furniture and carpet was showing some wear and tear but it was all clean.
Disliked: Parking was my main challenge - Information on the website was sparse and not helpful for my arrival. I tried to call the front desk shortly before my arrival but they did not pick up. For the benefit of anyone reading this, they DO have a ramp and it is located across the street from the front door, however you can NOT park in there when you arrive. You have to check in first and your room key will get you into the ramp. The issue I had is where to put the car while I checked in. I guess most of the time you can just park on the street right by the front door or across the street. Do NOT try to enter the parking garage located behind the hotel - it is not public and you'll have to back up a long way.

It was okay, but next...

Liked: The room we upgraded to was better than the one we had originally. The breakfast was very well displayed with an assortment to choose from. The location was ideal for our plans. The staff was very kind and accommodating.
Disliked: The amount for parking I felt was a bit too high, went elsewhere to find cheaper parking. I paid 14 dollars instead of the 30 dollars the hotel charges, and was still in close proximity to the hotel. I felt the pool had a little too much chlorine, couldn't stand to be in the pool area for more than 10-15 minutes without getting a headache. The first floor we were on smelled of urine in the hallway.
