Hyatt Place Charleston/Historic District

Do not stay in room 631 on the 6th floor - the fumes out of the shower smell like sulfur.

Disliked: Room 631 - smelled badly of sulfur coming from the bathroom.

Be sure to request a room on the side where there is no construction. Other than that it was a great location and a very nice place. Once construction around there is done I would love to come back.

Liked: Staff was friendly and place was clean.
Disliked: Was awakened at 7:30am by heavy construction - literally pounding steel.

Liked: Staff was very friendly. Hotel is right on the free shuttle line, easy to get to heart of downtown. Room was a nice size, quiet, and temperature easily controlled. Room was clean. Elevators were fast. Water was hot. Rooftop Pour Taproom was a hit, and very affordable. Bourbon and Bubbles is right outside of the hotel. Their food was awesome.
Disliked: Complimentary breakfast choices are nonexistent if you are watching your sugar intake. Nothing but high carb foods and Turkey jerky bacon that looked like a fried fruit rool up. Cheese omelets are frozen disgusting things. Hard boiled eggs are frozen. No other choices for me. My husband had the fruit and immediately had belly issues that he normally doesn't have. Then one day there was a conference and normal scrambled eggs showed up. Bed definitely needs replaced. Hard and uncomfortable. Had to pay for parking. My mistake for not paying close enough attention, but that was another $200 for a Sunday night through 8am departure on Saturday.

Disliked: On arrival to the hotel, we were told that the hotel is not aware of our reservation. This was despite the fact that the hotel did confirm our resrvation on several occasions and even sent welcoming email with all the datails of the booking on the day of arrival. The reception staff was absolutelly indeferent to the issue and even suggested that it is our fault that we did not confirm the reservation directly with the hotel over the phone. It was a memorial day eve and all the hotels in Charleston were fully booked, so we ended up travelling with 1 year old baby in the middle of thi night an hour off the city to the closest available accomodation. I would strongly suggest that Booking.com does review the arrangements with Hyatt Place in Charleston as the shady practices of this hotel do jeopardize the good name of Booking .com
