Expensive, 4* hotel for a...
Liked: The pool that's almost always empty. Location is central so good for young ones who can't walk too far.The breakfast had a good selection of food, hot and cold. Coffee was poor though.The Asian lady at Breakfast and the Head of Housekeeping were very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: I had an issue with my booking via booking.com where it was cancelled by the system (without my knowledge), I discovered it when I woke up a week before the trip and had to rebook straight away, for €400 more (the original booking was made 2 months prior). I asked the hotel to honour the previous pricing as it was a system issue, they refused... When I arrived at the hotel, I really hoped the hotel would prove me wrong, after this sour first exchange, and show great service. I was unfortunately thoroughly disappointed. I arrived past midnight, after a long flight delay and with a sleeping toddler on me, the front desk man was unhelpful and rude - he didn't help with my suitcases or provide info about the hotel but focused on getting the exact amount of change for the city tax. I had to tell him to let me put my toddler to bed and we'd deal with it the next day (I was staying for 4 nights).The staff is not trained for a 4* service, when I asked about the fireworks at the front desk, they told me to look on the city website. The Uber driver was 10 times more helpful...Nescafé bags in the rooms are not acceptable for a 4* hotel. Most of them have a Nespresso machine these days OR another type of coffee machine.Cups and plates were left by the pool all day, the staff very rarely came to clean them up.The hotel heavily relies on American tourists, which is fine, but I don't think people want to listen to Country music in the lobby or by the pool... in the South of France!There were other instances that didn't reflect the expected level of service but I don't have it in me to write a War and Peace on this...
