Excellent location for a trip...

Disliked: A choice of pillows might have been good and perhaps an in room safe.

Liked: Friendly welcome to the hotel, clean room, comfortable bed, safe in room, excellent location and free parking.Cooked breakfast ok.It’s a great looking hotel, but feels stuck in a time warp, the owners have clearly tried to market it as a wedding and events venue, it just needs a refresh/update.
Disliked: At £180 a night it felt overpriced, bathroom dated, small bath, need to remove baths and old 1980’s Formica worktops fit a modern shower/ cubicles and fittings. Window openers broken unable to latch window open, No bottled water in the room.Breakfast pastries burnt and small, staff service a little lacklustre, walls in the rooms paper thin, could hear baby and conversation in the next room as if they were in our room. The property

Wonderful characterful manor house. Our...
Liked: Nice warm welcome when we booked in! Even half hour earlier than planned.Room was charming, double aspect, four poster bed, lots of character. Breakfast was great. We also really liked that the kitchen was prepared to cook us something from the dinner menu during the lunch time sitting. The grounds were nice to walk around and plenty of places to sit.Staff were friendly and helpful.Only 15 mins by cab into Canterbury town centre for shopping, sight seeing or the theatre. The owners have done well to retain the character of the manor house given its age.
Disliked: This is really silly because the charming double aspect room we had with a four poster bed was terrific. The floor boards creaked almost everywhere in the room which sounded louder late at night. Would have been nice to have some illumination further out in the grounds as opposed to just around manor itself. The TV just seemed a bit of a faff to use and bring anything up, like terrestrial channels, the remote was outdated and the small fridge didn't seem very cold.I love my coffee so the inclusion of a nespresso machine would have been great, which you can use to run hot water through if tea is required.I did have to struggle with two heavy bags along the narrow corridors so I should have asked for porter help with the luggage when we booked in which I'm sure they would have done as they were very friendly and helpful.
